Dynamics 365 in Lebanon

Dynamics 365 for groups with a Lebanese base

Why bring a Dynamics 365 consultant into a Lebanese group project?

For a Lebanese group, a Dynamics 365 consultant judges whether Business Central covers the need or a heavier Dynamics product is justified, checks how the product can be licensed and localized for Lebanon, designs an additional reporting currency and a company structure for entities abroad, and reviews partner proposals. As an independent Microsoft Dynamics consultant, with no Microsoft partner status and no licenses to resell, I work remotely for you alone.

Dynamics 365 usually reaches Lebanese companies through groups that already run Microsoft 365, or through a sister company abroad that uses Business Central and wants the Lebanese business on the same platform. The appeal is clear: familiar tools, strong finance features and room to grow. The open questions concern licensing, localization, currencies and who will support the system.

Dynamics 365 reaches customers through partner firms in Microsoft's channel, and the chosen firm normally handles licensing as well as implementation. My role is separate. I write requirements, test the fit, review partner proposals and oversee delivery for you, working remotely and in English, with no commercial relationship with Microsoft or with any of its partners.

What I Do

Dynamics advice for Lebanese groups

These services keep a Lebanese Dynamics 365 project anchored to your requirements while a partner handles licensing and the build.

Product Fit

I test whether Business Central covers your finance, trading and project needs, or whether the scale of the group points to Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management, using your scenarios rather than a partner's demo script.

Localization Check

I establish what each partner proposes for Lebanon: a Microsoft-provided localization if one exists for your version, or the international base adapted with local accounts, VAT setup and reports, and who maintains that layer.

Reporting Currency Design

With your accountant I define the local currency, any additional reporting currency and the rate rules for each, then test how Business Central posts, adjusts and reports both values on real transactions.

Group Companies

Lebanese and overseas companies are set up in one environment where suitable, with intercompany postings, shared dimensions and consolidation rules designed together and checked with group finance.

Partner Proposals

I compare proposals on scope, licensing assumptions, localization apps, data migration, extensions and support, and ask the questions that expose missing work before you sign anything.

Reporting and Microsoft 365

I define the management reports, Power BI datasets and Microsoft 365 connections the group needs, so finance packs for owners and overseas partners come from the system rather than manual assembly.

Business Central or a larger Dynamics application

Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a family of applications. For most Lebanese trading, hospitality and services businesses, the relevant one is Business Central, which covers finance, sales, purchasing, inventory, projects and basic manufacturing for small and mid-sized companies. Groups with complicated supply chains, a long list of legal entities or heavy audit demands sometimes look at Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management, which brings a bigger implementation effort and cost.

I decide between them on evidence. I write scenarios from your own operations: an import shipment with landed costs, a services engagement billed to a client abroad, an intercompany recharge, a month-end close in more than one currency. Shortlisted partners demonstrate each scenario, and I score what they show against what you need.

I also look at how Dynamics fits with what you already use. Groups running Microsoft 365, Teams and Power BI can gain from shared sign-in, Excel integration and reporting. That benefit is real, but it should never outweigh a poor fit in core finance or operations. If the scenarios fail, familiarity with Microsoft tools is not a good enough reason to proceed. The global Dynamics 365 consulting page describes the product family in more detail.

Licensing and localization for Lebanon: what to verify

Start with availability. Business Central online is offered in a defined list of countries, and Microsoft provides its own localization for some of them, while partners publish localization apps for others. Confirm with Microsoft's published information and with each partner how a company registered in Lebanon can license the product and which version applies. Where no Microsoft localization exists, a partner typically adapts the international base: a chart of accounts agreed with your accountant, VAT posting setup, document layouts and any local reports.

The questions I put to each partner:

  • Is the localization from Microsoft, from a partner app, or built for this project?
  • Who maintains it when Business Central receives its regular updates?
  • Which VAT reports are included, and has your accountant reviewed their output?
  • How are Arabic, French and English documents produced, and who tests right-to-left layouts?
  • What happens to the localization if you change partner later?

Answers go into a comparison sheet beside the rest of each proposal. VAT treatment itself is confirmed by your accountant; I check that the configuration follows it and that reports agree with test transactions. Arabic or French wording is checked by your bilingual staff, since my work is in English. The ERP RFP consulting page shows how I structure these questions.

Two currencies and entities abroad

Business Central keeps a local currency for each company and offers an additional reporting currency, holding a parallel amount on general ledger entries converted at rates you maintain. For Lebanese businesses that need to read results in more than one currency, that feature is often where the design begins. It is not automatic: the choice of local currency, the source and timing of rates and how adjustments run all need agreement with your accountant before setup, and changing them later is disruptive.

I write those rules as test cases and have the partner run them: invoices and payments on different dates, exchange rate adjustments at month-end and reports in both currencies. If management also follows a rate that should not touch the ledger at all, we treat it as reporting data instead.

Groups with companies abroad usually set up each legal entity as its own company in Business Central, with shared dimensions for brand, branch or project and intercompany postings between them. Consolidation can run inside Business Central or through a reporting layer, depending on how formal group reporting needs to be. I define that model with group finance, and local advisors in each country confirm their tax and payroll needs. The multi-currency page sets out the general questions.

Working with partners on a Lebanese Dynamics project

You license and implement Dynamics 365 through a partner. Some partners serve Lebanese clients from inside the country, others from elsewhere in the region or through fully remote delivery, and each model can work. The partner usually bundles licensing, implementation and support, which is convenient but makes it harder to see where the effort goes.

I sit on your side of that relationship. Because I hold no Microsoft partner status and earn nothing from licenses, my proposal reviews carry no commercial bias. In practice I:

  • Turn your requirements into a scope the partner prices against.
  • Check that licensing assumptions match the users and functions you actually need.
  • Separate standard configuration from extensions and ask who owns the extension code.
  • Review the migration plan from your current accounting package or spreadsheets, including which history moves and how balances are reconciled.
  • Run acceptance testing with your users before go-live.

Ask every partner for a reference from a client with similar scope, and for the names of the consultants who will actually work on your project. Where a sister company abroad already uses a partner, I check whether that partner can support the Lebanese entity as well, or whether separate support makes more sense. My vendor selection work covers the full process.

Lebanese situations where Dynamics 365 is too much

Dynamics 365 is capable, and it is also a significant commitment in licenses, partner effort and ongoing support. I would question it in these cases:

  • A single company with simple trading. A lighter platform such as Zoho or Odoo may cover the need with less overhead.
  • Restaurant groups centered on point of sale. Business Central typically relies on third-party apps for hospitality POS, so compare those carefully with alternatives.
  • No dependable partner support. If no partner can show recent, relevant work and a clear support model, the platform's strengths will not reach you.
  • A wish to host and modify the software freely. Open-source options such as ERPNext give more control at the cost of more responsibility.
  • Requirements still unclear. A large platform does not fix unclear processes; begin with business analysis.

I set Dynamics against other options in two comparisons, Zoho or Dynamics and Odoo or Dynamics. The Lebanon hub and the Lebanon ERP consultant page describe my wider work there.

FAQ

Questions About Dynamics 365 Consultant Lebanon

No. As an independent Microsoft Dynamics consultant I have no commercial arrangement with Microsoft or with the firms in its channel, and nothing I am paid for depends on which license you buy. You license Dynamics 365 through whichever partner you pick, and I represent your interests in requirements, proposal review, testing and go-live.

Check Microsoft's current country availability information and ask each partner, because coverage changes. Where no Microsoft localization exists, partners usually adapt the international base version or install a partner-built app. I compare those routes on maintenance, upgrade handling and whether your accountant is satisfied with the VAT outputs.

Yes. Its additional reporting currency feature stores a parallel amount on each general ledger entry. The design still needs decisions on local currency, rate sources and adjustments, agreed with your accountant. I test those rules with real transactions before go-live so management and auditors can rely on both sets of figures.

Often, if that partner can handle the licensing route, localization, documents and working hours your Lebanese entity needs. I check their experience with your scope, how support would work across both companies, and whether a shared environment or separate environments suit the group better.
