I work remotely with companies in Italy that sell well beyond their home region but still run on a patchwork of accounting software, production spreadsheets and email. Many are family-owned manufacturers moving to the next generation of management, others are Italian subsidiaries of international groups, and some are export-led firms in food, fashion, furniture or machinery that need sharper control of margins and orders.
Work begins with understanding processes, then moves to a vendor-neutral look at Odoo, ERPNext, Zoho and Microsoft Dynamics 365, then supervision of the rollout and later refinement. I also run SEO, AI search and paid campaigns linked to CRM data for exporters looking for buyers abroad. Everything I produce is in English; Italian documents, layouts and training come from your own Italian-speaking colleagues or a firm you appoint locally.
Italian B2B invoices travel as structured electronic files through the national exchange system, known as the SdI, before reaching the customer. An ERP must create, send, receive and track those files reliably, often through a dedicated connector or intermediary.
Many Italian manufacturers are owner-led and pass from one generation to the next. A new ERP often coincides with formalizing decisions previously held in one person's head, so process documentation matters as much as configuration.
Export-led firms work through foreign agents, distributors and marketplaces, sometimes in currencies other than the euro. Price lists, agent commissions, EU trade reporting and shipping documents all need careful design in the ERP.
Many Italian companies rely on an external commercialista for tax filings and statutory books. Agreeing early which data the ERP produces and what the advisor keeps avoids duplicate work and reconciliation surprises at year end.

The engagement runs in English. Export managers and group subsidiaries are often comfortable with that, since English is already their language with foreign buyers. Italian print templates, manuals and staff courses are produced by people on your side who speak Italian, or by an Italian firm you engage, using my English workflow diagrams and test scripts as the source.
It has to, and it is one of the first things I check. Some platforms offer an Italian localization with SdI connectivity, others rely on a third-party intermediary. I verify the current route with each vendor, test sending and receiving with sample invoices, and ask your commercialista to confirm the setup.
Yes. Family firms often benefit from an outside view that is not tied to a vendor. I document how decisions are actually made today, help the family and managers agree what the system should standardize, and keep the scope realistic for the people who will run it day to day.
Italian mornings overlap with my afternoon in India, so live sessions are scheduled then. Between sessions I configure, document and coordinate with vendors, and I send written summaries so your team can review decisions at its own pace without waiting for the next call.
Every business is different. Share where you are today and what you want to fix, and I’ll tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
