What does a Zoho Analytics consultant do for a Malaysian company?
A Zoho Analytics consultant gives a Malaysian company one trusted reporting layer over its accounting package, marketplace stores such as Shopee and Lazada, outlet sales, distributor orders and CRM. The work covers agreed KPI definitions, product and customer matching across channels, MYR and regional currency views for group entities, and access limited by branch or state, all designed and tested remotely before dashboards go live.

A Malaysian distributor, food brand or consumer goods company may sell through its own sales team, wholesalers, Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop and a chain of outlets, while the books sit in AutoCount, SQL Account or Zoho Books. Each source tells part of the story, and the director's weekly report is pieced together by an executive in Excel.
I work remotely with directors and finance managers to design a Zoho Analytics model that joins those sources on agreed definitions and refreshes on its own.
Definitions, product mapping and access rules are agreed in writing before any chart is built.
The sequence stays the same: decisions and definitions, then data model, then dashboards.
A short list of the decisions directors make each week and month, such as reorder, promotion, credit and hiring, which defines what the dashboards must answer before anything is connected.
Connectors, scheduled exports or integration tools for the accounting package, marketplace stores, POS and CRM, chosen only after checking what each system can actually provide and how often it can refresh.
One master list linking marketplace listings, outlet item codes and accounting stock codes, plus customer matching between CRM, distributor accounts and the ledger, maintained by named owners.
Revenue, platform fees, vouchers, shipping subsidies and returns per channel, so directors compare real profit by channel rather than only the gross sales each store reports.
Malaysian entities in MYR and regional subsidiaries in SGD or other currencies, translated for group reports using whichever rate source and translation approach your accountant prescribes.
Row-level rules so outlet, branch and regional managers see their own results, sales staff see only their own customers, and directors see the full group in one view.

Malaysian SMEs keep their accounts in a range of systems: desktop or cloud editions of AutoCount and SQL Account, Zoho Books, or an ERP in larger companies. Zoho Analytics connects natively to Zoho Books and many cloud apps, but a direct connector for a particular local package may not exist, so the data route needs deciding first.
The options I compare with your IT support and the software dealer:
Whichever route is chosen, figures must reconcile with the ledger. I set up a monthly check comparing sales, stock value and receivables in Zoho Analytics with the accounting system's own reports, and agree who investigates differences. Validated e-invoices in MyInvois can also be used by finance as a cross-check on invoiced sales, though the e-invoicing platform is a compliance channel, not a reporting feed, and I would not build dashboards on it without your tax advisor's view. Books migration questions sit on Zoho Books in Malaysia.
A Malaysian consumer brand may run marketplace stores alongside its own web shop, outlets and wholesale accounts. Each marketplace reports orders, vouchers, platform fees, shipping subsidies and returns in its own format, and settlements arrive later than the orders. Looking only at gross sales per store hides what each channel really earns.
The channel model I design:
The hardest part is usually the product master. A single item may have different SKUs on each marketplace, in the POS and in the accounting package. I build a mapping table that the operations team maintains, and I flag unmatched items in a report so they are fixed rather than ignored. Stock questions beyond reporting are covered on Zoho Inventory in Malaysia.
Malaysian groups often have a sales company in Singapore, a sourcing arm elsewhere in the region, or several Malaysian companies under one owner, each with its own books. Some are regional headquarters of foreign groups reporting upward in USD or another parent currency. Directors need a combined view without waiting for the auditors.
The reporting structure I build in Zoho Analytics:
This produces management information. Statutory consolidation, local reporting standards and tax differences between countries remain with your accountants and auditors, and where a formal close with eliminations is needed, consolidation software or the ERP is the right home. The design method is covered on ERP for multi-company, and currency handling more broadly on ERP for multi-currency.
A distributor with branches in the Klang Valley, Penang, Johor and East Malaysia wants each branch manager to see local sales, stock and overdue accounts, salespeople to see their own customers, and directors to see everything. Row-level access in Zoho Analytics supports this, but the rules need careful design before users are invited.
The Personal Data Protection Act applies when customer or employee details reach the model. I prefer summary data here: sales by customer account rather than consumer names and addresses pulled from marketplace orders. Any detail beyond that needs sign-off from your data protection lead. Ask Zoho which data center hosts your account, and let your advisor judge whether storing data outside Malaysia raises any transfer issue. Hosting choices for the wider suite are on my Zoho consultant in Malaysia page.
Dashboards make data problems visible; they do not fix them. If outlets close their day late, salespeople record orders in WhatsApp before keying them in, or stock codes differ between branches, the reports will be inconsistent until the underlying process changes. In those cases I start with the process, through business process consulting, and build dashboards once the data can carry them.
Other routes are worth considering:
Sessions are remote and the engagement runs in English, timed for the morning and afternoon hours that Malaysian and Indian offices both keep. Report labels in Bahasa Malaysia or Chinese can be prepared by your team. No license commission or Zoho reseller margin shapes my advice. If the real question is the ERP itself, my Malaysian ERP consulting page and the Malaysia hub are the next stops.
Tell me about your business and current systems. I’ll suggest the most sensible first step.

Check the current connector list with Zoho, as a direct connector to a specific Malaysian package may not be available. Scheduled exports, read-only database access or an integration tool can fill the gap. I choose the route with your IT support and reconcile the figures against the ledger each month.
Yes, if fees, vouchers, shipping subsidies and returns are brought in with the orders. I model each channel's deductions and match settlements to orders, so directors can compare margin by channel. The accuracy depends on how complete each marketplace's exports are, which I check first.
Yes, for management reporting purposes. Each company keeps its figures and stays in its own currency, accounts are mapped to shared management lines, and translation uses your accountant's rates and method. Intercompany balances are shown separately. Statutory consolidation remains with your accountants and auditors.
Summary figures go into the reporting layer by preference, not consumer names or contact details from orders. If a report truly needs personal fields, they live in a locked workspace for named roles, approved by your data protection lead once Zoho has confirmed hosting.
Every business is different. Share where you are today and what you want to fix, and I’ll tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
