Where does Odoo CRM fit in a German company's sales process?
An Odoo CRM consultant for a German company designs the path from customer inquiry to Angebot, order confirmation and invoice inside one Odoo database, including technical clarification for configured products, German quotation texts checked by native speakers, and consent handling your data protection officer approves. Community versus Enterprise features are confirmed with Odoo or the partner. I work remotely and independently, and the engagement runs in English.

For a German manufacturer or wholesaler, the sales pipeline rarely ends with a won deal. The Angebot turns into an order confirmation, the order into purchasing and production, and later into a delivery note and an invoice. Keeping the pipeline in Odoo means that chain stays in one database instead of being retyped between a CRM and the ERP.
I design the opportunity stages, the technical clarification step and the quotation templates around how your inside sales desk and engineers actually prepare offers. Configuration choices are documented so an implementer or your own team can build them.
The engagement runs in English and remote. Native German speakers in your company, or a local partner, own the wording on quotes and confirmations.
Each item below concerns Odoo CRM and Sales specifically; platform, finance and DATEV topics sit on the related Odoo pages.
Opportunity stages that reflect inquiry, technical clarification, Angebot, negotiation and order, with clear exit criteria so forecasts mean the same thing to every sales team.
Product variants, attributes and optional lines set up so the inside sales desk can quote machine or component configurations without a spreadsheet beside the quote.
Template structure, validity rules and placeholders for terms, with German wording supplied by native-speaking staff and approved by your legal contact.
Sales teams by region, product line or channel, lead assignment rules and activity plans, so field representatives and the inside desk work from one account history.
Newsletter lists, unsubscribes and the origin of every contact, all arranged around rules your data protection officer sets for German B2B marketing.

In Odoo, a won opportunity becomes a quotation in the Sales app, the confirmed quotation becomes a sales order, and that order drives delivery, purchasing or manufacturing and finally the customer invoice. Nothing is copied between systems. For a German company already running or planning Odoo as its ERP, that continuity is the main argument for using Odoo CRM rather than buying a separate tool.
It makes most sense when:
A separate CRM can still be the better choice. If the group runs a CRM across several countries, if marketing automation needs go well beyond Odoo's apps, or if the ERP stays on another platform, connecting a dedicated CRM may be cleaner. I set out both routes during requirements, using the general method on my CRM consulting page, and make the decision explicit rather than defaulting to whatever the ERP vendor bundles.
The product background, including lead capture and reporting, is on my Odoo CRM consultant page, and the wider German platform view on Odoo consultant Germany.
Many German manufacturers sell products that exist in many variants: different sizes, voltages, materials, control units or accessories. The sales desk often prepares the offer while engineering confirms feasibility. If the CRM ignores that step, opportunities sit in a vague stage for weeks and forecasts lose meaning.
In Odoo I typically design:
Where a configuration is truly unique, engineer-to-order work may need more than standard variants. I flag that early and describe what the Odoo Manufacturing side must then handle, so the quote does not promise a structure production cannot build.
The documents a German customer receives from Odoo carry more than prices. They reference general terms of sale, delivery conditions, payment terms, validity and sometimes legal notices required on business letters. Odoo provides the report layouts and placeholders; the wording is a business and legal decision.
My part is structural:
German wording itself comes from native-speaking colleagues or a local partner, and your legal advisor confirms anything with legal effect, such as terms references. I prepare English drafts of the structure and placeholders so the review is focused.
Invoices created from these orders flow into accounting. If your customers include public-sector bodies, structured formats such as XRechnung and the buyer reference they expect become part of the order data. How that is handled belongs on the Odoo Accounting Germany page; here I make sure the CRM captures the reference early.
German B2B marketing is shaped by data protection law and by competition rules on advertising emails, and practice often includes a confirmed opt-in for newsletters. I do not advise on what the law requires for your case. Your data protection officer or legal advisor sets the rules; I make Odoo follow them consistently.
In practice that means:
Trade fair leads deserve special care. Badge scans and business cards often arrive in bulk after an event; I design an import routine that records the event, the consent captured on the stand and the follow-up owner. The general CRM consultant Germany page covers selection questions beyond Odoo.
The core CRM pipeline, Sales quotations and basic email exist in Odoo Community. Several features buyers expect have historically been Enterprise-only or depend on paid services, for example electronic signature on quotes through Odoo Sign, telephony integration, some lead enrichment services and parts of marketing automation. The split changes between versions, so I do not rely on an old feature list.
Before the edition decision I build a short table: each CRM requirement, whether Community covers it, whether Enterprise covers it, and what a community module or custom development would add. Questions I ask Odoo or the partner to confirm in writing include:
I am not an Odoo partner, resell no licenses and take no commissions. That lets the table show the cheapest workable answer, even when it is Community. For broader platform comparison, see my ERP consultant Germany page and the Germany hub.

Not sure which ERP you need?
Share your business requirements with me and I will help you understand the right process, architecture and platform before implementation.
When Odoo already runs your ERP and offers draw on its product, price and stock data, the built-in CRM keeps inquiry, order and invoice together. A group-wide CRM, or marketing needs beyond Odoo's apps, can tip the balance toward a dedicated tool linked to Odoo. I score both routes on your requirement list.
Odoo supports product attributes, variants, optional products and quotation templates, which cover many configured offers. Engineer-to-order products with unique structures may need more. I map your product logic first and show which parts standard configuration handles before anyone promises a configurator.
The engagement runs in English. I define the document structure, fields and placeholders. Colleagues who are native German speakers, or a local partner, supply the wording, and your legal advisor confirms anything with legal effect, such as references to terms of sale.
Odoo's marketing apps manage mailing lists, subscription states and opt-outs. Whether a confirmed opt-in flow is needed, and how it must work, is for your data protection officer to decide. I then check how your Odoo version supports it and test the flow before launch.
Not always. The pipeline and quotations exist in Community, while features such as electronic signature and telephony have historically required Enterprise or paid services. Confirm the current split with Odoo or the partner. I document each requirement against both editions so the choice is clear.
