From catalogs and know-how to sources AI tools cite

What does a GEO consultant do for Indian companies?

For an Indian company, generative engine optimization is the work of turning what you know into pages that ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI results draw on as sources. I am based in India and work remotely on method, specification and comparison pages, Indian third-party sources, parity between English, Hindi and regional-language versions, and a dated citation log. Citations are never guaranteed.

Many Indian companies hold deep expertise that never reaches the open web. It sits in catalog PDFs, tender responses, engineering notes, onboarding decks and the heads of senior staff. When an AI tool answers a buyer's question in your field, it cannot cite any of that, so it cites a marketplace profile, a foreign blog or a competitor that wrote things down.

Generative engine optimization fixes the writing-down part, carefully. I am based in India and work remotely with manufacturers, exporters, SaaS firms and IT services companies to turn existing knowledge into citable pages, strengthen the outside sources around them and log whether citations follow.

What I Do

Making Indian expertise citable

Focused on getting knowledge out of documents and into pages, and on the outside sources AI tools read about Indian suppliers.

Knowledge Extraction

Short interviews with your engineers, delivery leads or product managers, plus a review of catalogs and tender documents, to find the expertise that should exist as public pages rather than PDFs and slide decks.

Specification and Method Pages

Web pages that state grades, tolerances, standards, process steps or delivery methods exactly as your current documents do, with a named reviewer and review date, so a model can quote them accurately.

Indian Term Definitions

Plain definitions of the Indian regulatory and trade terms your buyers meet, such as e-way bills, GST e-invoicing or TDS where relevant, written in general terms and checked by your finance or compliance lead.

Comparisons for Two Audiences

Fair comparisons written for domestic buyers and, where you export or sell services abroad, for overseas buyers evaluating Indian suppliers, each built on the same criteria throughout, with your own offer placed honestly among the options.

Indian Source Landscape

A map of the industry associations, export promotion bodies, business press, online trade marketplaces, government scheme pages, company databases and review sites that answers cite in your category, with honest routes to presence.

Citation Log and Fact Reviews

A dated log of which sources each tool cites for your buyer prompts, paired with a review calendar so specification, price and compliance pages are rechecked whenever a rule, rate or product changes.

Why expertise locked in PDFs and decks rarely gets cited

Indian manufacturers often send buyers a catalog PDF over email or WhatsApp. IT services and SaaS firms keep their best explanations in proposal decks. Engineering firms bury method statements inside tender submissions. All of it is useful, and almost none of it is available to an AI tool answering a buyer's question, because it is not on an accessible web page, or it is a long PDF that is hard to quote accurately.

The first step in GEO for an Indian company is therefore editorial, not technical. I interview the people who hold the knowledge and review the documents they already use, looking for:

  • specifications, grades and tolerances that buyers ask about repeatedly
  • process or delivery methods that explain how you work, step by step
  • decision guidance you give in sales calls, such as which option suits which application
  • answers to objections that come up in overseas evaluations

Each item becomes a candidate page or section, scored by commercial value and by how distinctive it is compared with what already exists online. Material that repeats every competitor's brochure is dropped. What remains is content that gives a retrieval system a reason to choose your page. My generative engine optimization page lays out the underlying approach.

Method, specification and comparison pages built to be quoted

A citable page states facts in a form a model can lift without distortion. For Indian industrial and services companies that usually means a small set of page types:

  • Specification pages that list grades, sizes, standards and approvals exactly as your current documents state them, with units, a named reviewer and a review date
  • Method pages that describe how you deliver a project, run a test or onboard a client, as numbered steps with a short summary at the top
  • Comparison pages that set options side by side with consistent criteria, such as material choices for an application or engagement models for an offshore project

Definitions belong near the top of the relevant page. If buyers meet Indian terms such as e-way bills, GST e-invoicing or TDS in your field, short accurate definitions help both readers and AI tools, but tax and legal points stay general and are confirmed by your finance lead or chartered accountant.

Many Indian firms serve two audiences: domestic buyers and overseas buyers evaluating Indian suppliers. Those audiences ask different questions, so comparison and method pages may need separate versions with different examples, rather than one page trying to serve both. Pages in this format also give my answer engine optimization work in India a solid base to build on.

The Indian sources generated answers draw on

AI answers about Indian suppliers and service firms rarely rely on company websites alone. Depending on the category, they draw on industry associations and chambers, export promotion bodies, business newspapers and trade publications, online trade marketplaces, government scheme and procurement pages, startup and company databases, review platforms and community Q&A threads. I build the list for your category from the sources that actually appear in your prompt runs.

For each recurring source, the map shows whether you are present, whether your description, products and locations are current, and what legitimate route exists to improve it: an updated association profile, a corrected marketplace listing, an expert article in a trade publication or a project write-up you are permitted to share. Paid placements disguised as editorial, fake reviews and mass directory submissions are left out; they add risk without adding trust.

Name consistency across registers and profiles is handled within my AI search optimization work in India. Here the focus is substance: making sure the sources an answer leans on describe what you actually make or do, accurately and in enough detail to be useful to a buyer.

English, Hindi and regional-language versions that match

Many Indian companies publish Hindi pages, and regional-language versions in Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada or Bengali where their customers are concentrated. Dealers and distributors often circulate translated brochures of their own. Each version can be read and quoted by AI tools, and when one carries an old price policy, a discontinued product or a different warranty term, the error can travel into answers in any language.

I keep a fact register for the claims that must match everywhere: products and specifications, service areas, warranty and return terms, approvals and contact routes. Each time the English master is edited, every language version and dealer-facing document is compared with it.

The engagement runs in English. Hindi and regional-language wording is produced by native speakers you choose, whether in-house writers or a translation agency, and machine translation is never published without their review. My role is the structure: deciding which pages need which languages, setting language attributes correctly and keeping every version on the same update cycle.

Language versions should follow demand. A capital equipment maker selling to procurement teams may need English only, while a consumer brand or a diagnostics chain may need several languages. Search data and your customer mix decide.

Fresh facts, a citation log and what GEO cannot promise

Facts behind citable pages change: GST notifications, product ranges, price lists, approvals and delivery coverage. A page AI tools have learned to quote can keep being quoted after it is wrong, so each one has an owner, a visible review date and triggers, such as a rule change or a new catalog, that prompt a check.

Progress shows up in a running log: a fixed list of buyer prompts goes through Gemini, ChatGPT, Copilot, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews at set intervals, noting:

  • the sites each answer relied on, yours included or not
  • how accurately your company was named and described
  • which marketplaces, publishers or competitors were cited instead

I read the log for patterns across runs, since single answers vary. A discovery question on inquiry forms, saved to your CRM, catches AI-influenced leads that arrive without referral data. Consent and tracking questions under India's data protection law stay with your legal advisor.

GEO cannot force a citation, fix a weak product or replace sales effort. It makes your knowledge available and quotable, and the log shows honestly whether that is paying off. To discuss your situation, get in touch.

FAQ

Questions About GEO Consultant India

Not all of them. Start with the products and topics buyers ask about often, and publish those as web pages with the key specifications, applications and approvals stated clearly. Keep the PDF as a download for buyers who want it. Long PDFs are harder for AI tools to read and quote accurately, so the important facts should also exist on the page.

It can. Overseas buyers often ask AI tools how to evaluate or work with Indian vendors. Clear method pages, honest comparison content and detailed write-ups you are permitted to share give those tools something specific to cite. Pair this with accurate profiles on the sources your buyers' prompts surface, and measure progress through a dated citation log.

Native speakers you choose, either in-house writers or a translation agency, since the engagement runs in English. I decide with you which pages need which languages, prepare the English masters and the fact register, and make sure every version stays aligned when products, prices or terms change.

No. The AI search page covers overall visibility: how assistants assemble answers, mixed-language prompts and entity consistency across company records. This page goes deeper on becoming a cited source, by publishing knowledge that currently sits in PDFs and decks, strengthening Indian third-party sources and keeping language versions in parity.

No. Each tool decides its own sources and changes its methods. My job is to strengthen what you control and keep an honest, dated record of results, including periods where nothing changes, so you can decide where further effort is justified.
