What should an Odoo CRM setup cover for an Iraqi distributor?
For an Iraqi distributor of medicines, food or building materials, Odoo CRM should let reps quote from the correct federal or Kurdistan Region company, in dinars or dollars, with stock and customer balance visible, then turn the won deal into an order, delivery and invoice. It also covers medical rep visits, phased supply for projects, contact consent and the Community or Enterprise question. My advice is remote and independent of any vendor.

An Iraqi sales rep quoting a hospital pharmacy in Basra, a supermarket buyer in Erbil or a contractor near Baghdad needs three answers before naming a price: is the product available, which of the group's companies should sell it, and does this customer already owe money. When the CRM sits apart from stock and accounts, those answers come by phone. Inside Odoo, the opportunity can show them directly.
I take on this design remotely, as an independent consultant. Odoo does not pay me, I am not one of its partners and I resell no subscriptions, so whether to use Odoo CRM at all is an open question. I map your sales process with commercial and finance leads, and then put the implementer's configuration through real deals. The engagement runs in English, with Arabic and Kurdish wording checked by native speakers in your company.
These services make sure a won deal in Odoo arrives in operations and finance with the right company, currency and terms already attached.
Sales teams and default companies set so a rep in the Kurdistan Region quotes from that company and a rep in federal Iraq from the other, with shared customers handled deliberately.
Price lists in dinars and dollars per customer group, a named owner for each and a review routine, so quotes follow current prices rather than a rep's memory.
Customer balances, overdue invoices and credit limit warnings shown to reps before they confirm, tested with finance so the warning reflects the balance they actually manage.
Activities for medical reps and key account visits, with plans per territory and short visit notes, so managers can see coverage of doctors, pharmacies and buyers.
Opportunities for contractors and developers that need staged deliveries, samples and long negotiation, linked to the quotation and to the call-off orders that follow, so the remaining volume on each project stays visible.
Each feature your reps rely on is tagged by edition or add-on and checked with Odoo or the implementer, alongside hosting that copes with weak mobile signal.

The strongest argument for Odoo CRM in Iraq is that most selling here depends on stock, price and credit at the same moment. A distributor cannot promise delivery of a product that is still at the port, and finance will not release goods to a customer over its limit. When the opportunity, the quotation, the stock and the customer ledger share one database, the rep sees all of this without calling the warehouse or the accountant.
Odoo CRM tends to fit when:
A separate CRM can still be right. If your sales team already uses one that works, if marketing automation matters more than stock, or if your ERP is not Odoo, an integration may serve better than a migration. The Zoho CRM in Iraq page describes a dedicated CRM route, and the Iraq CRM consultant page covers route-to-market design independent of platform. I compare the options on effort, running cost, data ownership and who will administer the system, then you decide.
Groups with companies in federal Iraq and in the Kurdistan Region often share customers, products and even salespeople. In a multi-company Odoo database, each opportunity and quotation belongs to one company, and that company's numbering, taxes, price lists and bank details flow into the documents. Getting this right in the CRM avoids invoices issued by the wrong entity and painful corrections later.
The rules I agree with your commercial and finance leads:
I test these rules by creating the same deal from each side and following it through to the invoice, checking the company on every document. Accounting for each entity is designed separately, and the Odoo Accounting in Iraq page covers that layer. Intercompany sales, where one entity supplies the other, follow rules agreed with finance rather than being improvised by sales.
Pharmaceutical and medical supply distributors in Iraq run two kinds of selling at once. Medical reps visit doctors and pharmacies to build demand, without taking orders on most visits. Key account staff handle pharmacy chains, private hospitals and other institutional buyers, where a deal can involve committees, samples and formal offers.
Odoo CRM can carry both if the design separates them:
Food and consumer goods distributors use a similar pattern with supermarket buyers and wholesalers, swapping medical visits for listing negotiations and promotions. In both cases, visit data only helps if reps can record it on their phones. I agree which steps need a live connection and which can be completed later in the day. The pharmaceutical page explains the regulatory side of the workflow.
Suppliers of cement, steel, blocks, pipes and finishing materials in Iraq sell to contractors whose needs unfold over months. A single opportunity may cover a whole residential or infrastructure job, with deliveries called off as the site progresses and prices revisited as supplier costs change.
In Odoo, I treat these deals in three layers:
Price movement is the main risk. A quote in dollars and an invoice in dinars, or a quote held open too long, can erase the margin. I agree with finance how long quotes stay valid, who may extend them and which currency each customer group is quoted in. Credit limit warnings, available depending on version and settings, help reps see when a contractor's balance is too high before another delivery is promised. Advances requested before delivery are recorded as down payments on the order. The trading page and the sales and CRM integration page cover the connected workflows.
A CRM stores names and phone numbers of doctors, pharmacists, buyers and site engineers. Rules on personal data and marketing messages in Iraq, and any that apply in the Kurdistan Region, should be confirmed with a lawyer, as should the rules of any country your buyers sit in. I design for good practice regardless: a recorded basis for each contact, mailing lists limited to contacts who agreed, restricted exports and a routine for removing data on request.
Documents may be issued in Arabic, Kurdish or English depending on the customer and the company. The implementer builds quotation and email templates with right-to-left layout where needed; native speakers on your staff write and approve the wording. I keep a register of each template and who signed it off.
Community already gives you the CRM app with its pipelines, scheduled activities and quotation tools. Telephony integration, some messaging connectors, electronic signature and certain lead services have sat in Enterprise or depend on paid services. I confirm each item for your version with Odoo or the implementer.
Hosting shapes daily use. Cloud hosting lets reps reach Odoo anywhere with signal; an on-premises server has to remain reachable for reps on the road, so plan backup power and an alternative connection. Odoo CRM is not the answer when no one will own price lists and data, or when the rest of the business is not on Odoo. See Odoo in Iraq and the Iraq hub for the wider picture.

Yes, in a multi-company database each opportunity and quote belongs to one company, with its own numbering, price lists and taxes. Sales teams can default to the right company, and managers can see both. I agree how shared customers are handled and test the same deal from each side through to the invoice.
The customer record in Odoo shows invoices and balances, and credit limit warnings are available depending on version and settings. I work out with finance which balance the warning should use, and which roles may see payment details, then test it with a customer in each currency before go-live.
Visits are logged as activities on doctor, pharmacy or hospital contacts, with notes on the products discussed. Managers filter by territory and rep to check coverage. Samples handed out are recorded as stock moves from the rep's location. I agree which steps reps complete on site and which later in the day.
Since the engagement runs in English, my part is the template list: purpose, fields, audience and owner. The implementer then builds each layout. The Arabic and Kurdish wording is drafted and approved by colleagues who are native speakers, or by a translator or partner you appoint, so documents read naturally to your customers.
