What should a Spanish company check before running stock in Odoo Inventory?
A Spanish company should check that Odoo Inventory can track the lot attributes its products really have, such as tile shade and caliber or produce harvest batches, that routes fit each warehouse and logistics provider, and that delivery notes and invoices follow the Spanish localization in its edition. I design that setup, test island and export shipments, and work remotely as an independent consultant.

Stock in Spain has some distinctive habits. A box of ceramic tiles is only interchangeable with another from the same shade and caliber. A pallet of citrus carries a harvest batch, an origin and a grower. A shipment to Tenerife leaves the EU VAT area for tax purposes even though it never leaves the country.
Odoo Inventory can handle each of these, but only if the design starts from the goods rather than from the software menu. I build that design with your warehouse, quality and finance leads in remote sessions, then hand a clear specification to whoever configures the system.
Each item focuses on stock, its documents and its link to invoicing under Spanish rules.
I decide how lots represent what makes your goods distinct, whether shade and caliber for tiles, harvest batch and grower for produce, or production date for oil and wine.
Packages and pallets modeled so the warehouse can receive, move and ship whole pallets by scanning, while stock and traceability stay correct at product and lot level.
Receipt, quality hold, pick, pack and ship steps chosen per site, including packhouses, regional depots, cross-dock points and stock held by third-party logistics providers across Spain.
Albaranes printed with the data your customers and carriers expect, linked to the order and to the invoice, with the layout text reviewed by native Spanish speakers on your side.
Deliveries to the Canary Islands, Ceuta, Melilla and other countries tested so the fiscal position, customs paperwork and invoice treatment all follow from the destination.
Valuation method, landed costs on imports and the year-end stock figure agreed with finance and your asesor, so the warehouse and the ledger tell the same story.

Spanish ceramic tile producers and distributors face a stock problem that general software does not anticipate. Each production run can differ slightly in color tone and dimensions, so tiles are graded by shade and caliber, and a customer laying one floor must receive boxes from the same grade. Selling the right quantity of the wrong shade is a costly mistake.
Odoo does not have a built-in shade and caliber concept, but lots can carry it. The design choices I work through:
Reservation by lot, and what the order screen shows about lot availability, varies with version and may need light customization. I test it on your real product range before committing, and set out what is standard and what is development. The general concepts are on my Odoo Inventory page; production of the tiles themselves is covered on Odoo Manufacturing in Spain.
Agri-food companies in Spain, from packhouses to cooperatives and olive oil mills, need to trace product back to its origin. Buyers and food safety schemes expect it, and a withdrawal must be possible quickly if a problem appears. Odoo tracks lots on receipt, through repacking or production, and on delivery, with expiry or best-before dates where enabled.
Points I settle with the quality manager:
Grower settlements, where a cooperative pays members based on delivered quality and weight, are a separate requirement that standard Odoo does not cover in depth. That may need a sector module or partner development, and I mark it clearly. Your quality team and advisors name the sector rules and schemes that govern your products; I design the system to produce the records they ask for. See also food and beverage ERP.
In Spanish distribution the albarán, or delivery note, travels with the goods and is often the basis for invoicing, sometimes grouped into one invoice per customer per period. In Odoo the delivery order can print as a delivery note, and invoices can be created from delivered quantities, singly or grouped. The layout and the data it shows need agreeing with your customers and carriers.
The invoice then belongs to Odoo Accounting and the Spanish localization. Where the company is based and how large it is decide which regimes touch the invoice: SII, the provincial systems in the Basque Country and Navarre, Facturae when the buyer is a public body, and the newer invoicing software requirements. I check with your asesor fiscal which apply, and with Odoo or the partner how your edition and version handle them. On the inventory side I test:
Delivery note text in Spanish, and Catalan where relevant, is reviewed by native speakers on your team. The ledger side is explained on Odoo Accounting in Spain.
A delivery from the Spanish mainland to the Canary Islands looks like a domestic shipment in the warehouse but not in tax. The islands apply their own indirect tax and sit outside the EU VAT area, so goods sent there need the right fiscal position, export or dispatch documents and customs handling. Ceuta and Melilla have their own treatment as well. I test these shipments end to end with your forwarder's paperwork in mind, and your asesor confirms the tax treatment.
Other flows I design and test:
Each of these depends on configuration, and some on modules or connectors, so I mark what is standard and what needs confirming. For broader warehouse requirements, see ERP for inventory and warehousing.
Odoo Inventory is part of Community, including routes, lots and multi-warehouse setups. Features that Spanish warehouses ask for, such as the barcode application, some quality checks and certain carrier integrations, may depend on Enterprise or on Odoo's services. The hosting choice also matters: Odoo Online limits additional modules, which can rule out community Spanish modules or sector add-ons that your design relies on. Every requirement goes onto a sheet that the partner completes and signs off for the edition, hosting route and release you will actually run.
I would look beyond Odoo Inventory, at least for the warehouse floor, when:
In those cases Odoo may still run finance and sales, with a specialist system for the warehouse, or a different ERP may simply fit better. I have no commercial tie to Odoo or any partner, so the recommendation follows your requirements. The work is remote, with sessions during the Spanish working day; for a wider decision see ERP consultant in Spain.

Odoo has no dedicated shade and caliber field, but lots can carry that information, and sales can reserve a specific lot for a project order. How reservation by lot appears on the order depends on your version and may need light customization. I test it on your range before committing.
Fiscal positions can switch taxes for customers in the islands, and the delivery itself follows normal routes. Customs documents and the islands' own indirect tax need checking with your asesor and forwarder. I test full shipments, from order to invoice, before go-live.
Yes, Odoo can create one invoice from several deliveries for the same customer. The invoice then follows the Spanish localization in Odoo Accounting. I test grouped invoicing, returns and corrections, and confirm with your asesor that the result meets your obligations.
Standard Odoo tracks deliveries and lots from growers but does not cover quality-based member settlements in depth. Covering it means a sector module or partner development. I write the requirement up precisely, then we weigh Odoo with development against an agri-food package that settles members as standard.
