How can a Spanish project business bill correctly from Odoo Projects?
A Spanish engineering firm, installer or consultancy can plan work, record hours and bill by milestone, progress certificate, fixed fee or time in Odoo Projects, then issue invoices through Odoo Accounting under the Spanish localization. I design billing rules, timesheet routines and field service steps, confirm edition coverage with the partner and invoicing obligations with your asesor, and work remotely as an independent advisor.

Spanish project businesses invoice in ways that do not always match a software default. An engineering firm bills against progress certificates approved by the client. A solar or HVAC installer bills on delivery, installation and commissioning. A consultancy bills hours monthly, and a public body client wants its invoice through a specific electronic channel.
I design Odoo Projects so each of those patterns becomes a rule the system applies, rather than a spreadsheet beside it. The work runs remotely with project managers, technicians and administration, and while the engagement runs in English, every Spanish client document is prepared by your own people.
Each item sits between the project team and administration, where contract terms become invoices.
I list how you sell work, from lump sums with progress certificates to hourly consulting and installation packages, and turn each pattern into a service product and project template.
Milestones or percentage-of-completion steps that match how clients approve progress on site, including advances and retentions where your contracts include them, tested with administration first.
Daily or weekly time entry, manager validation and cost rates per role, so hourly invoices, project margins and utilization reports all draw on the same complete data.
Projects for installing equipment, solar plants or building systems, followed by field service tasks and maintenance contracts, where the field service application is in your edition.
Project invoices checked against the Spanish localization in your edition, including withholding on professional services and the public sector channels your asesor confirms apply to your clients.
Analytic accounts per project bringing revenue, valued hours, purchases and expenses together, tested against several finished jobs before management relies on the figures for pricing decisions.
Contracts and billing practice
Templates and rules in staging
First real billing cycle
Engineering, construction-related and installation firms in Spain often bill against certificaciones: periodic statements of work completed that the client approves before an invoice is issued. Contracts may also include an advance on signing and a retention held back until acceptance. Odoo Projects has no feature named after the Spanish certificate, so the practice must be mapped onto what Odoo offers.
Options I compare with your project managers and administration:
Each option affects how the customer's statement looks and how revenue is recognized, so finance and your asesor take part in the choice. Where certificates depend on measured quantities against a bill of quantities, as in building contracts, a construction ERP may suit better than Odoo, and I raise that early. The general billing models are on my Odoo Projects page, and project costing in general under ERP for project costing.
Spain has many companies that sell and install equipment: solar photovoltaic systems, air conditioning, lifts, security and industrial installations. Their work has two phases. First comes the installation project, with materials, crews and milestones. Then comes years of service, with maintenance visits, breakdown calls and contracts that renew. Odoo can link both, provided the design follows the installed asset.
The flow I would set up:
Whether these apps sit in your license tier is something the partner must answer on paper, because Odoo moves features between tiers over time. Grants or incentives tied to installations, such as those for renewable energy, have documentation rules your advisor must define; Odoo can store the records but does not judge eligibility. See also ERP for field service.
For Spanish IT consultancies, engineering offices and agencies, hours are the product. Odoo invoices timesheets on service products set to bill delivered quantities, and the project's profitability depends on hours being complete and valued correctly. When people enter time late or vaguely, both the invoice and the margin report suffer.
The routine I design with the team:
Spain requires employers to keep a record of daily working time. Project timesheets record work on tasks, which is a different purpose, and whether one system can serve both is a question for your labor advisor, not something I assume. Timesheets can also support research and innovation tax incentives or funded projects; again, the evidence standard is set by your advisor, and my role is to make the data complete and exportable in the form they request.
Every project invoice in Odoo is an ordinary invoice in Odoo Accounting, so the Spanish obligations that apply to your company apply to it too. Size, registered location and the type of client together determine whether SII, TicketBAI or the Navarre regime, Facturae for public administrations, or the invoicing software requirements come into play. Your asesor confirms which apply; Odoo or the partner shows how your edition and version meet them.
Project billing adds cases worth testing explicitly:
Hosting is part of this question: a Spanish compliance setup built on community modules needs Odoo.sh or self-hosting, since Odoo Online accepts few extra modules, and that has to be settled before the partner quotes. The ledger side, including SII and the invoicing software rules, is on Odoo Accounting in Spain, and platform-level choices on Odoo in Spain.
Odoo Projects works best for firms that sell services and installations through sales orders and want delivery, time, purchasing and invoicing in one database. It is less convincing in some Spanish settings, and I prefer to say so before a project starts rather than after.
I would look at alternatives, or at a combination of systems, when:
In those cases I help you define requirements and compare options through ERP evaluation, or connect a specialist tool to your finance system. No vendor or partner pays me for a recommendation, and I resell nothing. The work is remote, scheduled in hours that overlap with the Spanish working day, and on-site sessions happen only by arrangement. For a wider view see ERP consultant in Spain.
Tell me about your business and current systems. I’ll suggest the most sensible first step.

Share your business requirements with me and I will help you understand the right process, architecture and platform before implementation.
Odoo has no Spanish certificate feature by name, but milestones, percentage-of-completion billing and down payments can represent the practice. I map your contracts to these options with administration and your asesor, then test advances, retentions and corrections before go-live. Your contracts decide which combination is used.
Project invoices follow the same path as other invoices in Odoo Accounting, so compliance depends on the Spanish localization in your edition and version. Your asesor confirms what applies, and the partner demonstrates it on your data. Advances, withholding and disputed certificates are the cases I put through the test database first.
They serve different purposes. Project timesheets record work on tasks for billing and cost, while the working time record is a labor obligation. Whether one system can cover both is for your labor advisor to decide, and I design around their answer.
Historically Field Service has sat in Enterprise, and recurring billing and planning tools may as well, yet Odoo repackages apps from release to release. Your technicians' must-haves go to the partner as a checklist, and their signed reply settles what your release and hosting route include.
Every business is different. Share where you are today and what you want to fix, and I’ll tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
