Why would a Perth business use an India-based ERP consultant?
Perth sits closer to India in time than any other Australian mainland capital, so most of your working day overlaps with mine. A remote ERP consultant can join your planning meetings as easily as a local one. I help mining services, engineering, fabrication and equipment hire businesses define requirements for contracts, assets, rosters and job costing, then choose and implement a fitting system. Visits are by arrangement.

I work remotely with businesses in Perth and across Western Australia: contractors and suppliers serving iron ore, gold, lithium, nickel and gas operations, engineering and fabrication firms in the industrial suburbs, and equipment hire companies renting plant, cranes, lighting towers, accommodation units and tools to sites across the state. Any visit to Perth is planned by arrangement.
Western Australian businesses are used to long distances and big contracts. Head office is in Perth, the work is often in the Pilbara or the Goldfields, and the crews fly in and out on rosters. An ERP here must keep track of people, equipment and costs that are rarely in the same place as the finance team.
Resources, engineering and hire businesses in Western Australia share a few hard problems: assets in remote places, labor on rosters and contracts with demanding clients. These are the areas I work on most.
I scope hire agreements, dry and wet hire rates, on-hire and off-hire dates, meter readings, damage and cleaning charges, transport to site and utilization reporting so every day on hire is billed.
Hired and owned plant needs service intervals, inspection records and certificates tracked per serial number. I define how maintenance data and asset availability connect to the hire and finance side.
For maintenance contractors working planned shutdowns, I scope labor mobilization, rates by role and shift, materials, subcontractors and client approvals so the final invoice is fast and complete.
Steel fabrication, machining and engineering workshops need drawings, material traceability, labor and job costing tied together. I define these needs and test them with a real job in demos.
Fly-in fly-out crews bring flights, accommodation, allowances and roster patterns into labor costs. I plan how rosters, timesheets and payroll results reach job costing accurately.
Consumables, spares and tools held at site containers or client warehouses need visibility and control. I design locations, transfers and stocktake processes that work with limited connectivity.
Business first, technology second. You can hire me for one step - a BRD, a gap analysis, a vendor shortlist - or for the whole journey.

Perth is the business capital of Western Australia's resources sector. Major miners and energy companies manage iron ore operations in the Pilbara, gold in the Goldfields, and growing battery minerals and gas projects from their Perth headquarters. Around them is a large mining equipment, technology and services sector: engineering firms, maintenance and shutdown contractors, fabricators, drilling companies, labor hire providers, logistics operators and equipment hire businesses. Industrial areas in the south and east of the metro area hold workshops, yards and warehouses that feed sites across the state, while the port and marine precinct to the south supports shipbuilding, defense and offshore work.
For ERP planning, the defining features are assets, distance and contracts. Equipment that ties up much of a company's capital may be sitting on a client site far to the north. Crews work on rosters and travel by air. Clients are large companies with strict purchasing, safety and invoicing procedures. A system that suits a city-based wholesaler will not cope with these demands unless they are designed in. National topics such as GST, BAS and payroll reporting are covered on my Australia-wide ERP page, so this page concentrates on what is particular to Perth and Western Australia.
Equipment hire is a large part of the Western Australian industrial economy: excavators, loaders, cranes, light vehicles, lighting towers, generators, compressors, site accommodation and small tools, rented to mines, builders and contractors. The commercial model looks simple, but it leaks money easily. Equipment is sent to site without a signed agreement, off-hire is recorded late, fuel and damage are not charged back, or a unit sits idle in the yard while a customer is turned away.
I document the full hire cycle: quote, agreement, delivery and on-hire, rate type such as daily, weekly or monthly, dry or wet hire, meter or hour readings, exchanges, off-hire, inspection, damage and cleaning charges, and return to available stock. Then I check whether each candidate system handles it natively, through a hire-specific add-on, or through a separate rental system connected to the ERP.
Maintenance is the other half. Each serial-numbered asset needs service schedules, inspection and certification records, and repair costs, so you can see true profitability by asset and decide when to dispose of it. I link these requirements to the ERP solution design so hire, maintenance and finance share one asset register.
Maintenance and shutdown contractors based in Perth mobilize large crews to processing plants, ports and mine sites for planned outages. The work is intense and tightly scheduled, and invoicing it correctly afterwards is often harder than doing it. Rates differ by trade, shift and day type, the client approves timesheets on its own system, and materials, consumables, equipment and subcontractors all need to be charged against the right work order.
I scope how labor is planned and mobilized, how timesheets are captured and approved, how charges are assembled into the client's required invoice format, and how actual costs compare with the estimate. Fly-in fly-out arrangements add flights, accommodation, travel time and allowances, which should be visible against each contract rather than buried in overhead.
Workforce rules in the resources sector can involve enterprise agreements, awards and roster-specific conditions. Most contractors handle these in a specialist payroll and rostering system, so the ERP design focuses on clean data flows: rosters and timesheets in, payroll costs back to jobs. The contracting ERP page outlines the general requirements, and ERP integration planning defines the connections.
Perth's engineering and fabrication firms build structural steel, pipe spools, chutes, bins, skids, modules and machined components for mining, energy and infrastructure clients. Work is usually job-based and quoted from drawings, with material bought to order, welding and fabrication tracked by hours, and finished items tested, coated and shipped to remote sites.
The ERP needs to manage estimating, job budgets, material purchasing against the job, labor capture in the workshop, subcontracted processes like galvanizing or painting, and progress claims for longer contracts. Clients in the resources sector often require documentation packs with material certificates, weld records and inspection test plans, so traceability from plate or pipe to finished item matters.
I document these needs with my engineering ERP framework and ask each shortlisted vendor to process an actual workshop job of yours, covering a drawing revision, a material certificate and a progress claim. Many workshops also handle site installation, so I make sure field labor and equipment can be costed on the same job as the shop work, and that the finished job report shows margin across both.
Perth has the smallest time difference with India of any Australian mainland capital, and Western Australia does not use daylight saving, so the gap is short and stays constant. In practice, from late morning onward your working day overlaps with mine. That makes it realistic to run workshops, join implementer stand-ups, review test results together and resolve issues during business hours, much as a consultant in another Australian city would.
This changes how an engagement can run. Instead of relying mostly on overnight documentation, we can work through process maps and requirement documents live, make decisions in the same session, and keep momentum through testing and cutover. Early site starts happen before my day begins, so conversations with site supervisors are best scheduled later in their shift.
Yard and workshop walk-throughs work well by video. Near go-live I am available across most of your business day for hire contracts, timesheets, invoicing or asset records. If an in-person kickoff in Perth would help, we can organize it by arrangement. More about my services across the country is on the Australia page, or tell me about your fleet, crews or workshop and we can set up a first discussion.
Tell me about your business and current systems. I’ll suggest the most sensible first step.

No. I work from India and support Perth businesses remotely. The time difference is small and constant, so most of your working day overlaps with mine, and workshops, testing and support happen live. Should a session in Perth be worthwhile, we can plan the trip together beforehand.
It depends on the size of your fleet and the complexity of your contracts. Some ERPs handle hire well with an add-on, while larger hire businesses often run a specialist rental system feeding invoices and asset values into the ERP. I weigh the two options against how your hire cycle and maintenance actually run.
Yes, if the design captures rosters, travel, accommodation and allowances against each contract or work order. Most of the calculation usually happens in payroll and rostering systems, so I plan how that data returns to job costing and appears in contract margin reports.
Yes. I define estimating, job budgets, material traceability, workshop labor capture, subcontracted processes and progress billing, and test shortlisted systems with one of your own jobs so you can see how drawings, certificates and costs come together.
Every business is different. Share where you are today and what you want to fix, and I’ll tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
