Vancouver

Ad spend that follows how the region moves

How should a Vancouver business set up Google Ads?

Google Ads in Vancouver works best when targeting follows real travel across water and bridges, budgets follow a calendar set by rain, ski season and cruise visitors, and campaigns reach the right audiences: locals, travelers planning from abroad, or customers searching in Chinese or Punjabi. I manage or advise remotely, connect results to your CRM and report on leads and revenue, not clicks.

Clicks in competitive Vancouver categories can be expensive, and loose campaigns spend money in the wrong places: across an inlet your crews never cross, in Washington State, or in months when nobody is searching for what you sell. A well-built account reflects how the region actually travels, buys and plans.

As an independent Google Ads specialist working remotely, I either manage the account or advise your team. I structure campaigns around the areas, seasons and audiences that matter to you, set up tracking that follows leads into your CRM, and explain every change in plain language. You keep ownership of the account and its data.

What I Do

Campaigns built for Metro Vancouver

Each service below addresses a way Vancouver accounts commonly lose money or miss customers.

Crossing-Aware Targeting

I replace simple radius targeting with the municipalities and areas your team actually serves, so ads do not reach the North Shore when crews stay south of the inlet, or Washington State when you serve only BC.

Rain and Season Budgets

Roofing, drainage, heat pumps, ski gear, tours and student services all peak at different times. I build a budget calendar for the year and adjust bids before demand rises, not after it has passed.

Visitor Campaigns

For tours, hotels and attractions, I use location settings that reach people planning trips from elsewhere, with keywords and ads written for travelers rather than residents.

Brand Term Protection

Agencies and booking platforms that sell your tours may bid on your business name. I set up brand campaigns, monitor who appears beside you, and check where your own ads should send customers to book directly.

Language and Script Campaigns

Ads in Traditional or Simplified Chinese, Punjabi or Korean need their own language targeting, keywords and landing pages. I build the structure; fluent speakers on your team write or approve the text.

CRM-Linked Measurement

I connect calls, forms and bookings to outcomes in your CRM and return qualified outcomes to Google Ads, so automated bidding is trained on real customers rather than raw clicks.

Water, bridges and the border in location targeting

A radius drawn around a Vancouver address rarely matches who you can serve. Draw a circle around a business in Burnaby and it covers parts of the North Shore across Burrard Inlet, Richmond across the Fraser, and a stretch of Surrey that may be a long drive at rush hour. Customers in those places are a bridge or tunnel away, and a trades company, clinic or restaurant may never see them. Go a little wider and the circle crosses into Washington State.

I build location targeting from the places you actually serve: named municipalities, neighborhoods or postal areas, with explicit exclusions. A plumbing company based in Coquitlam might target the Tri-Cities, Burnaby and New Westminster and exclude the North Shore. A mobile service covering Surrey, Langley and Delta might exclude Vancouver proper because travel time ruins the margin. A business serving all of Metro Vancouver can still split campaigns by area to see where leads cost more and close less.

The location options setting matters too. For local services, ads should usually reach people physically present in your areas, not those merely interested in them; the default can include people elsewhere who search about Vancouver. I check this setting on every audit, because it is a common source of wasted spend.

A demand calendar set by rain, mountains and cruise ships

Vancouver's seasons drive search demand in their own way. The long wet season brings searches for roof repairs, gutter cleaning, drainage, moss removal and leak detection. Hot spells in recent summers have added interest in cooling and heat pumps, alongside outdoor renovation, landscaping and moving. Ski and snowboard shops see interest build with the first snow on the local mountains and at Whistler, while tour operators, waterfront restaurants and hotels follow the cruise and summer visitor season. Colleges and student services follow academic intakes.

Campaigns that run flat budgets all year waste money in quiet months and run short when demand peaks. I look at your own history, search trend data and your sales calendar, then set a budget plan by month with targets for each period. Bids and budgets move ahead of the peak, ads mention seasonal offers or urgency only when they are true, and quiet months are used for testing new keywords and landing pages at lower cost.

Rebate programs for heat pumps and energy upgrades also affect demand, and they change. If you mention them in ads, the wording must match current program rules, which you confirm with the program or your advisor before launch.

Tour operators, booking platforms and visitors from abroad

For tour and activity operators, hotels and attractions, the customers worth reaching are often not in Vancouver when they search. They are at home in Seattle, Calgary, Sydney or Seoul, planning a trip. For these campaigns the location option works the other way: reaching people who search for Vancouver activities from elsewhere is the point. I target the visitor markets that matter to you, use keywords that include the destination, and write ads that answer planning questions such as departure points and what is included.

Booking platforms and online travel agencies also bid on tour and hotel names, sometimes including yours. A small brand campaign is often inexpensive compared with other campaigns and keeps your own ad, with the benefits of booking direct, at the top of your brand searches. I check auction insights to see who competes on your name and whether another seller of your tours is bidding in a way your agreement with them does not allow, which you then take up directly.

Measurement needs care when bookings finish on a third-party engine. I set up conversion tracking that follows the visitor across domains or imports confirmed bookings, so campaigns are judged by real bookings and revenue. The Vancouver technical SEO page covers the tracking side of booking handoffs in more detail.

Chinese, Punjabi and other language campaigns

Metro Vancouver includes large Chinese-speaking communities, concentrated in Richmond and present across Burnaby, Vancouver and Coquitlam, a large Punjabi-speaking community centered in Surrey, and Korean, Tagalog, Persian and Vietnamese speakers, among others. Many customers in these communities search in English; some search in their first language, especially for professional, health, real estate and family services.

Google Ads targets languages using signals about the languages a person understands, and it treats Traditional and Simplified Chinese as separate options. That distinction matters here: longer-established Cantonese-speaking families and more recent Mandarin-speaking arrivals may use different scripts. Punjabi campaigns may need keywords in Gurmukhi script as well as romanized spellings. Each language version needs its own keywords, ads and a landing page in the same language, or the click is wasted.

I build the campaign structure, research keyword patterns and set up measurement by language. Ad text and landing pages are written or approved by fluent speakers on your team, so tone and terminology suit your customers. Results by language are reported separately, so you can see whether each one earns its budget.

Selling south, measuring outcomes and remote management

Vancouver companies selling to US customers have an advantage worth using: Pacific time matches California, Oregon and Washington, so ad schedules and sales follow-up line up with West Coast business hours. Software, clean tech, manufacturing and professional service firms can run US campaigns with separate budgets, US-focused landing pages, prices or quotes in US dollars, and lead routing to whoever handles American accounts. Keeping Canadian and US campaigns apart makes cost per qualified lead visible for each market.

For every account, the real measure is what happens after the click. I connect calls, forms and bookings to your CRM, record which leads became opportunities and customers, and send those results back to Google Ads as offline conversions where your systems allow it. Reports cover cost per qualified lead, opportunity value and revenue by campaign, area and language, not just clicks.

I work remotely and in English, either managing the account or reviewing your team's work each month. You own the account and all its data. National topics such as French campaigns and privacy rules are on my Canada Google Ads page; the service itself is described under Google Ads management.

FAQ

Questions About Google Ads Consultant Vancouver

Usually because of radius targeting or the default location option, which can include people interested in your area rather than present in it. I switch targeting to the municipalities you serve, add exclusions and set the option to presence for local services, then check the location report to confirm the change.

Yes, often. Visitors search while planning at home, so campaigns aimed at your main visitor markets, with destination keywords and the right location option, can reach them earlier. Locals still matter for off-season and gift sales, so they usually get a separate campaign with its own budget.

It depends on who your customers are. Traditional characters are common among Cantonese speakers with roots in Hong Kong and Taiwan, Simplified among many Mandarin speakers from mainland China. Google Ads treats them as separate languages. I look at your customer base and search data, and your team writes or approves the text.

Yes, if leads are captured with their source and your CRM records outcomes. I set up tracking for calls, forms and bookings, map them to CRM records and import qualified results back into Google Ads. That lets bidding favor campaigns that bring customers, not just enquiries.
