How should Zoho CRM be set up for selling in Qatar?
Zoho CRM in Qatar has to reflect how contracts are really won: vendor registration and prequalification with large buyers, tenders from ministries and state-linked companies, consultants who approve materials, and family groups where decisions involve several people. I design those stages, bilingual quotation templates and data access rules, then connect approved quotes to Zoho Books for invoicing.

I work remotely with Qatari contractors, MEP firms, building material suppliers, trading houses and service companies whose sales rarely follow a simple lead to deal path. A typical order begins months earlier with vendor registration, a prequalification file and an approved material submittal, long before anyone sees a purchase order.
Zoho CRM can hold that whole story, but only if someone designs it to. Out of the box it expects leads and deals. In Qatar you also need projects, tender stages, consultants, main contractors and the group companies behind each client.
My job is to build that structure, keep it simple enough for the sales team to update, and connect it to finance once a quotation is accepted.
Qatari engagements usually start with the tender pipeline and the project record, because that is where spreadsheets fail first.
Stages for registration, prequalification, bid preparation, clarifications, submission, evaluation and award, with mandatory fields at each step so managers can see which bids are really alive.
A custom project module that ties together the end client, the design consultant, the main contractor and your own quotes, so one building does not appear as five unrelated deals.
Parent and child accounts for family-owned groups and holding companies, with clear ownership rules when several of your salespeople deal with different companies in the same group.
Quotation layouts, cover letters and follow-up emails in Arabic and English, reviewed by a fluent speaker and tested for right-to-left printing before customers see them.
Roles, profiles and field permissions that reflect Qatar's personal data rules as your advisor interprets them, with consent and retention fields that reports can actually use.
Approved quotes flowing into Zoho Books as sales orders or invoices, with payment terms, advance and retention conditions carried across instead of retyped.

A large share of Qatari revenue comes through formal procurement. Ministries and state-owned companies publish tenders through official procurement channels, and many semi-government and private developers keep their own vendor lists. Before you can quote, you are often registered, prequalified and sometimes asked to resubmit documents each year.
For suppliers to construction and MEP work there is a second gate: the design consultant must approve your material or system before the contractor can buy it. A sale can be lost at submittal stage even when the price is right.
In Zoho CRM I usually separate these flows instead of forcing them into one deal pipeline:
Loss reasons are captured at every stage, because knowing that you lose at prequalification rather than on price changes what management does next. The general Zoho CRM building blocks are described on my Zoho CRM consulting page.
Many Qatari private clients are parts of family-owned groups with interests in contracting, real estate, trading and hospitality. The company named on the purchase order is not always where the decision is made, and the person who signs may not be the person who decided.
That has practical consequences for CRM design. I model each group as a parent account with its operating companies underneath, so a salesperson can see every open quote and past order across the group before a meeting. Contacts carry a role field that separates decision makers, technical evaluators, procurement staff and the family member or senior executive who has the final word.
Ownership also needs a rule. If one of your reps manages the group's real estate arm and another manages its contracting company, who owns the relationship at group level? I agree that rule with sales leadership and write it into assignment and sharing settings, rather than leaving it to whoever logs the next call.
Your own company may belong to a group too. When sister companies sell to the same clients, I decide with you whether they share one Zoho CRM with separate layouts or keep separate accounts with a common customer list. The wider choice of Zoho apps for that situation is covered on my Zoho page for Qatar.
English is the working language of most Qatari sales teams, yet Arabic matters for government correspondence, for many Qatari decision makers and for documents that will be filed with a public buyer. A bilingual quotation that prints badly undermines the bid it supports.
I build quotation and letter templates in both languages, check how Arabic text and numbers align on the printed page, and keep Arabic and English versions of company and contact names in separate fields so searches and duplicate checks still work.
Follow-up often happens on WhatsApp. Zoho offers ways to connect WhatsApp Business to the CRM, and there are third-party connectors as well; the options, approval steps and messaging rules change, so I check what is currently available for your account before promising a design. The aim is that conversations with customers sit on the customer record, not only on a salesperson's phone.
Qatar has a personal data privacy law, and the Qatar Financial Centre has its own data protection rules for entities registered there. I do not interpret them for you. With your legal advisor's guidance, I set field-level access, record who agreed to marketing and how, limit exports, and define how long inactive contacts are kept. Data center options for your Zoho account should be confirmed at sign-up.
To my knowledge Qatar still has no general VAT in force, which is why quotations to Qatari customers normally carry no sales tax line. Your tax advisor should confirm this, since GCC tax policy does change, and remember that sales invoiced into the UAE, Saudi Arabia or Oman may be treated differently.
Tax is therefore rarely the hard part of the Qatari quote. Commercial terms are. Quotations here often include advance payments, retention, validity periods, delivery terms and several revisions as the scope moves. I design the Zoho CRM quote so that:
Any tax treatment belongs in Zoho Books, where your accountant can review it, rather than in CRM formulas that nobody audits. The finance side, including Books setup for Qatari entities, is covered on the Zoho Books page for Qatar.
Zoho CRM handles pipeline, accounts, activities and quotations well. Some Qatari sales processes need more than that, and I say so early:
Drawing these boundaries before configuration keeps the CRM light enough that estimators and sales engineers will keep it updated during busy tender seasons. Yes, with some design. I usually add a tender pipeline or module with stages from invitation to award, plus records for vendor registrations and prequalification with each buyer. The CRM does not connect to procurement portals by default, so tender details are entered or imported by your team.
Domestic Qatari quotes normally show no sales tax, because I understand no general VAT has been brought in. Confirm this with your tax advisor. Where tax does apply, for example on sales into other GCC countries, I keep it in Zoho Books rather than in CRM calculations.
Quotation templates can be designed in Arabic, English or both. I have the Arabic text reviewed by a fluent speaker and test the printed output for right-to-left alignment, mixed-language item names and number formatting before the template goes into use.
Zoho and third-party providers offer WhatsApp Business connections for Zoho CRM, but options, onboarding rules and costs change over time. I check what is currently available for your account and region, then design how conversations attach to customer records. Every message template is tested before rollout.
Yes. Discovery, design reviews and configuration all happen over video calls and shared screens, booked inside the Sunday to Thursday week that most Qatari offices keep. A visit in person can be discussed case by case. I advise independently and do not sell Zoho licenses.
Every business is different. Share where you are today and what you want to fix, and I’ll tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
