Freelance ERP

Independent ERP advice, delivered in English

How can an Egyptian company work with a freelance ERP consultant?

An Egyptian company engages a freelance ERP consultant directly for independent, English-language advice around an ERP decision. The usual formats are a defined assessment, fractional leadership on the client side during implementation, or a review of partner proposals and contracts. I work remotely in the hours Egypt and India share. A local implementer still handles configuration, the tax authority connection and Arabic training, with your bilingual staff reviewing Arabic output.

Egyptian companies choosing an ERP hear plenty of opinions from those who will profit from the choice: software publishers, implementers, connector providers and hosting firms. A freelance ERP consultant brings a view from outside that group. The contract is with me directly, the product or partner you select pays me nothing, and my output is clearer decisions and documents your managers keep.

I work remotely and in English with owners, finance directors, operations managers and regional leaders of international groups in Egypt. The engagement can start before a platform is chosen, run during implementation or begin after a disappointing go-live. A local partner remains responsible for configuration, Arabic training and support, while I make sure their work serves the business.

What I Do

Engagement options for Egyptian businesses

Each option starts with an agreed question and ends with written outputs your team can act on.

Defined Assessment

A bounded engagement that produces a written answer, such as whether your accounting system and e-invoicing tool can be kept, a requirements pack for tender, or a choice between two shortlisted platforms.

Fractional ERP Lead

Someone leading on your behalf for part of each week during implementation, preparing steering meetings, tracking the partner's plan, raising risks early and making sure finance, production and project managers take decisions on time.

Partner Proposal Review

I test each Egyptian partner's proposal against your requirements, looking at who owns the tax authority link, how Arabic templates and training are scoped, what migration includes and what support follows go-live.

Group and Local Alignment

For Egyptian entities of international groups, I help reconcile the parent's template with local needs such as e-documents, Arabic output and pound reporting, and record which differences are justified.

Scope Change Control

During delivery I assess each change request, separating real new needs from items the original scope should have covered, and give management a short written recommendation before anything is approved.

Live System Review

When a system is running but reports are distrusted or staff have returned to spreadsheets, I review configuration, data, reports and adoption, then list the corrections in order of business impact.

What engaging an independent ERP consultant involves

Bringing in a freelance ERP consultant is a professional services arrangement, comparable to retaining an outside auditor for a defined question. You set the question, agree the outputs and pay for expertise and documents. No license is attached, no commission sits in the background, and nothing is bundled with software.

Three formats cover most needs. A defined assessment answers one question in writing, for example whether to replace current systems, or which platform best fits your requirements. A fractional role gives the business its own part-time ERP lead for the life of the implementation (see the fractional ERP lead service). A focused review looks closely at a proposal, a contract or a live system that is not performing.

Effort depends on factors you can see before you commit: how many legal entities, factories, branches or project sites are involved, which departments participate, how many integrations exist and how long the project lasts. I discuss those drivers in our first call so that the scope fits the problem. The broader service appears on my ERP consulting page.

Testing partner proposals before the contract is signed

Two Egyptian implementation proposals can look similar on the cover page and differ sharply in what they actually include. The differences usually surface in the areas that are hardest to estimate, so I review every proposal against your written requirements with particular attention to a few questions.

  • Tax authority connection. Is the e-invoice and e-receipt integration named, who builds and maintains it, and how are signing credentials and rejected documents handled?
  • Arabic scope. How many Arabic or bilingual templates are included, who translates master data, and is training offered in Arabic for users who need it?
  • Currency terms. In which currency are licenses and services priced, and what happens if the exchange rate moves during the project?
  • Migration. Does it include open balances and reconciliation, or only customer, supplier and item lists?
  • Support. What response commitments, escalation routes and ownership of custom code apply after go-live?

You receive a structured comparison and a set of clarification questions for each bidder, so every proposal can be judged on equal scope. My ERP evaluation and ERP vendor selection pages describe the scoring method in more detail.

Why a local implementation partner is still needed

A remote, English-speaking consultant does not replace an Egyptian implementer, and an honest engagement should say so plainly. Several responsibilities sit better with a firm that works in your market, speaks Arabic with your users and stands behind its configuration.

A local partner is generally the right owner for configuration, any development work, the technical link for electronic invoices and receipts with the tax authority, together with the signing setup, Arabic print templates and translated master data, training sessions delivered in Arabic, installation of point-of-sale and warehouse devices, and everyday support. Payroll and social insurance commonly stay with a specialist local provider, with summary journals posted to the ERP.

I sit on the business side of that arrangement. I help you select the partner, define their accountability in the contract, prepare the requirements they build against, and review progress, test results and change requests. Your bilingual staff act as the bridge for Arabic material, and the requirements tell them exactly what to check. Product-specific notes for this market appear on the Egyptian pages about Odoo, Zoho, ERPNext and Dynamics 365, and the full selection and delivery scope is on the Egypt ERP consultant page.

Vendor registration, cross-border payment and contract terms

Hiring an advisor who is based abroad raises a handful of administrative points that are simpler to settle at the start. Your procurement team will have a vendor registration process, and some of its fields, such as a local tax registration number or a local bank account, may not fit a supplier located abroad. Decide with your finance department how a non-resident advisor is set up and approved.

Paying for services abroad goes through your bank. Because availability of foreign currency and the paperwork for outward transfers can affect timing, it is sensible to raise the payment route with your bank before the engagement begins. Your tax advisor should confirm whether any tax applies to services received from outside Egypt; that is not something I advise on. Naming the invoicing currency in the agreement avoids surprises for finance.

The agreement for advisory work like this can be brief. It should describe the outputs or the scope of an ongoing role, the way scope changes get approved, mutual confidentiality, who owns the documents produced, how any personal data shared during the work is protected with Egypt's personal data protection law in mind, and the notice either party gives to end the engagement. Clear terms keep the project discussion on the business itself.

Overlapping hours and the remote working pattern

Egyptian clocks run a few hours behind India, which places the Egyptian working morning falls within the Indian working afternoon. The overlap comfortably fits workshops, steering meetings and user acceptance sessions at times that suit your managers, while tasks that need no live discussion, such as reviewing contracts or drafting test scripts, are completed outside it and ready for the following day.

Working remotely depends on discipline more than distance. Recurring sessions are booked in advance, documents go out before each meeting, and every meeting ends with written decisions, owners and dates for the next step. Where an Egyptian entity reports to a group abroad, the same decision log can be shared with head office, so local choices are visible to the people who approve budgets.

Workshops are held in English. Where a participant prefers Arabic, a bilingual colleague can summarize or clarify points during the session, and written notes give everyone time to review. The engagement is designed to run entirely online; any visit in person would be a separate arrangement. FAQ

Questions About Freelance ERP Consultant Egypt

The engagement runs in English. Requirements, workshops and reports are in English, and Arabic templates, terminology and user training sit with bilingual people on your payroll or with the Egyptian implementer. The requirements list exactly which Arabic items need checking, so responsibility for that review is clear from the start.

No. An independent advisor can join at any point. My first step would be reading the contracted scope, the plan and the issues list, after which your sponsor and I choose the focus, whether that is requirements, testing, change control or management reporting. Configuration and support stay with the partner throughout.

No. No publisher or implementation firm pays me anything. Zoho, Odoo, ERPNext, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and any other contender are rated on your documented requirements, with the logic written out so your board can trace how the recommendation emerged and challenge it if needed.

The scope of the question. Entities, sites, departments, integrations and the length of support needed are the main drivers. We discuss them in the first call and fix deliverables in writing before any work begins, so the fee is linked to outputs you have agreed.

Still have questions? Let’s talk them through.

Every business is different. Share where you are today and what you want to fix, and I’ll tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
