What should an Egyptian company check before running on Zoho?
Before an Egyptian company relies on Zoho, it should confirm how Zoho Books invoices and retail receipts will reach the Tax Authority's electronic systems with a valid digital signature, whether that needs a third-party connector, how Arabic documents will be produced and checked, and how pound and dollar prices behave when the rate moves. I review these points independently and remotely, in English.

Egyptian firms looking at Zoho usually want something lighter than a full ERP: CRM for a growing sales team, Zoho Books for invoicing and accounts, perhaps Zoho Inventory for stock and Zoho Projects for client work. That can be a sensible choice. The question that decides it is rarely the feature list, and nearly always whether the tax documents Zoho produces will satisfy the Egyptian Tax Authority's electronic systems.
As an independent Zoho consultant, I support Egyptian teams remotely and in English. I check the compliance route, design the Zoho setup around your processes and coordinate with your bilingual staff on Arabic output. No license commission or vendor target shapes what I recommend, including the recommendation not to use Zoho at all.
Every service below starts from a question Egyptian teams should answer before they commit to Zoho.
I find out whether your Zoho Books edition submits invoices to the ETA itself or needs a separate connector, then compare the options on signing, error handling, credit notes and who supports them.
Every product and service needs a code the Tax Authority system recognizes. I design where that code lives in Zoho item records and how new items get coded before they are sold.
I specify which documents need Arabic or bilingual layouts and which fields carry Arabic names. Your bilingual staff review the wording, and we test printed output with real transactions.
Price lists in pounds and dollars, a written rule for when prices are revised after a rate move, and foreign currency bills booked at a documented rate with the bank confirmation attached.
Zoho CRM stages, quotation approvals and handover to Zoho Books built around how your team actually sells, whether to local distributors, project clients or buyers abroad.
Where Zoho has no standard answer, such as a specific approval chain or import file tracker, I specify a small Zoho Creator app and keep its scope under control.

Egypt's Tax Authority operates electronic systems for business invoices and for consumer receipts, and businesses brought into scope must submit structured, digitally signed documents rather than relying on printed ones. For a Zoho user, the practical question is how a document created in Zoho Books gets from Zoho to the Authority, and what happens when it is rejected.
There are broadly three routes to examine:
For each route I ask the same things: where the signing credential lives and who controls it, how item codes and customer tax numbers are validated, how credit and debit notes link back to the original, and what users see when the Authority rejects a document. Your tax advisor should confirm whether and when your company is in scope. My ERP integration service covers the specification and testing of connections like this.
Businesses that sell to consumers face a different flow. The e-receipt system is aimed at retail and service transactions, so the receipt is produced at the counter, on a delivery app or on a service ticket rather than in an accounting screen. If your Zoho design treats retail sales as a daily summary invoice, it may not fit what the e-receipt system expects.
I map every point where a customer pays: shops, kiosks, delivery, online orders and service visits. For each one we decide which system issues the receipt, whether that system can connect to the Tax Authority, and how the sale then reaches Zoho Books and Zoho Inventory for stock and accounting. Sometimes the right answer is a specialist point-of-sale tool that handles receipts and posts summaries to Zoho; sometimes a Zoho-based flow is enough.
The design also has to cover returns and refunds, payment methods such as cards and wallets, and shifts closed without an internet connection. Each of these becomes a test case before go-live, and the tax treatment of each is confirmed with your advisor rather than assumed.
Most Egyptian customers and authorities expect Arabic on invoices, receipts and statements, while managers and foreign parents may prefer English. The engagement runs in English, so the split of responsibilities is set at the start.
My part is the specification: which documents must be Arabic only, which should carry Arabic and English together, which fields hold Arabic names for customers and items, and how templates should look in Zoho Books and Zoho CRM. Bilingual colleagues on your side, or a local firm engaged by you, write and check the Arabic wording, confirm right-to-left layout on printed and PDF output, and translate user guides for colleagues who work mainly in Arabic.
Testing closes the loop. We print or export real documents from a test organization, compare them against what customers and the Tax Authority expect to see, and record any layout issue as a defect before go-live. Check how Arabic is supported in the specific Zoho apps and edition you use, because support differs between interface language, templates and reports. The ERP consultant in Egypt page explains how I approach language across platforms.
Egyptian companies selling in pounds while buying in dollars feel every rate movement in their margins. Zoho supports foreign currency transactions, price lists and bank accounts, but the policy behind the numbers has to come from you and your accountant.
I help define three things. First, where rates come from and who can change them on a Zoho Books document, with the bank confirmation or internal rate sheet attached. Second, how price lists in pounds are reviewed after a significant move, who approves the change and how open quotations in Zoho CRM are treated. Third, how management sees the effect: open dollar payables, margin on recent sales at the cost actually paid, and currency gains or losses separated from trading results.
Exporters add the reverse case, with receipts in dollars and costs in pounds, and sometimes a buyer who wants invoices in a third currency. The same discipline applies. Reports can sit in Zoho Books or Zoho Analytics, provided the underlying entries are consistent. Regional data center location, hosting and data protection questions are reviewed with your legal advisor against Egyptian law, and all of this work runs remotely.
Zoho works well for service firms, traders and exporters with straightforward stock. It is a weaker fit in Egypt when:
If any of these apply, I raise it before subscriptions are bought, and I explain which part of your requirements drives the concern so you can test it yourself in a demonstration. A short list of Zoho apps can still play a role alongside another ERP, for example CRM for the sales team. An ERP evaluation puts Zoho side by side with the alternatives on scenarios drawn from your business, while my Zoho platform overview describes the suite more broadly. The Egypt hub covers my remote work with Egyptian businesses in general.
Tell me about your business and current systems. I’ll suggest the most sensible first step.

Not sure which ERP you need?
Share your business requirements with me and I will help you understand the right process, architecture and platform before implementation.
That depends on the edition and region available to your organization and on whether a connector is used. Zoho or your implementer should show a signed submission, a rejected document being corrected and a credit note, using your own transactions. Your tax advisor should confirm whether and when your company is in scope.
That is agreed during design. Depending on the connector, signing may happen on a machine in your office holding a credential or through a signing service. I make sure ownership, access and renewal of the credential are documented, and that a backup procedure exists if the signing step fails.
Usually yes, through templates and Arabic name fields, though support varies by Zoho app and edition. I specify the layouts and fields, your bilingual staff check the Arabic wording and print output, and sample invoices are printed and reviewed in testing before any customer receives one.
Many Egyptian firms start with Zoho CRM and Zoho Books, then add Inventory or Projects. Zoho One makes sense when several departments will use many apps. I map who needs what, then compare the bundle with individual subscriptions on fit and administration effort, not on discounts alone.
Every business is different. Share where you are today and what you want to fix, and I’ll tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
