What does a Google Ads consultant for Kenya do?
A Google Ads consultant for Kenya plans and manages campaigns for buyers who search on phones, mix English and Swahili and often prefer to call or chat. I work remotely on intent-based keywords, negative lists, Nairobi and county targeting, call and WhatsApp setup, light landing pages and offline conversions from your CRM, within Kenya's data protection rules. Your company owns the account, and results are not promised.

A Kenyan buyer who clicks your ad is very likely holding a phone, may be watching their data bundle and often wants to talk to someone straight away rather than fill in a long form. If the account counts every tap on a WhatsApp button as a lead and every form as a sale, it can look healthy while sales quietly complains about time-wasters.
Working remotely as an independent consultant, I put together and operate Google Ads accounts for Kenyan companies with that behavior in mind. I structure campaigns around commercial intent in English and Swahili, target the towns and neighborhoods you actually serve, treat calls and chats as starting points rather than results, and bring qualified outcomes back from your CRM.
All workshops and reports are in English. Swahili or Sheng ad text is drafted or checked by native speakers, usually on your staff or through a local partner.
The work treats the phone as the main storefront and the CRM as the record of what a click was really worth.
A review of keywords, search terms, locations, ad assets, conversion actions and landing pages, showing which spend brings real buyers and which goes to job seekers, students or the wrong towns.
Campaigns organized by product line and buyer intent, with English keywords, Swahili and mixed phrasing where volume exists, and Kenyan place names in the forms people actually type.
Call assets, click-to-call and links to WhatsApp configured with clear rules for what counts as a conversion, so a short accidental call is not reported as a lead.
Recommendations for fast, data-friendly pages that match the ad, show phone and WhatsApp clearly and ask only for what sales needs, tested on ordinary handsets and mobile data.
Click identifiers captured with forms, calls logged with their source where your setup allows, and qualified, quoted and paid stages imported from your CRM as offline conversions.
Ongoing keyword, bid and budget changes, plus a monthly report showing spend, qualified leads and sales by campaign, written so a managing director can read it in minutes.

Commercial searches in Kenya are mostly in English, particularly for business services, equipment, software and professional work. But many queries mix in Swahili, for example an English product name followed by a Swahili word for price or location, and some consumer searches are fully in Swahili or Sheng. Spelling varies widely, especially for estates, towns and Swahili words thumbed out in a hurry.
I build keyword lists that reflect this:
Negative keywords matter as much in Kenya as anywhere. Exclusions typically cover job and vacancy searches, internship and attachment requests, student assignments, salary questions, free downloads and searches for second-hand or very low-cost alternatives when you do not sell them. Swahili equivalents such as kazi for work are added where they cause irrelevant matches.
Ads are written in the language of the ad group. English ads stay in clear English, and Swahili ads are written or approved by native speakers, never machine-translated. The general approach is laid out on the Google Ads management page.
Many Kenyan buyers prefer to call or send a message rather than complete a form. Google Ads supports this with call assets and click-to-call, and ads can link to a page that opens a WhatsApp chat. Some message features vary by country and account, so I check what is available to you before planning around them.
The risk is counting the wrong things. A tap on a WhatsApp button is not a lead; it may be a mistake, a curious visitor or someone who never sends a message. A call lasting a few seconds may be a wrong number. I set conversion rules accordingly:
The landing page matters too. Visitors pay for data and coverage varies, so pages should be light, load fast on an ordinary handset and show the phone number, WhatsApp link, location and business hours near the top. Prices, if shown, should match the ad. If organic pages already exist, I coordinate with the SEO work for Kenya so paid traffic lands on pages that are already fast and relevant.
Kenyan demand is concentrated in Nairobi and its surrounding counties, with Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru and Eldoret as further important centers. Within Nairobi, buyers in Westlands, Upper Hill, Industrial Area, Kilimani or Karen often behave differently, and traffic and distance matter for any service that involves a visit or delivery.
I set location targeting around where you can serve customers profitably:
I also check the time of day. If calls arrive when nobody can answer, the ad schedule should reflect your opening hours, or the ad should send people to a form instead. A missed call from a paid click is wasted spend, and often a lost customer who simply calls the next supplier on the list.
Kenya's Data Protection Act governs how personal data is collected and used, and the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner oversees compliance. Tracking tags, call logging, form data and hashed contact details for enhanced conversions all involve personal data in some way. I map which tools collect what and how data flows to Google and your CRM, and your legal advisor decides on notices, consent wording and settings. I am not a lawyer, and I do not make those decisions for you.
Within those settings, measurement is anchored in the CRM:
For businesses that collect payment through M-Pesa or bank transfer after a quote, the most reliable outcome signal is often the paid invoice in the ERP or accounting system rather than the CRM stage. Where that link exists, I use it. How customer conversations, quotes and invoices connect is mapped on my Kenya CRM page, and the payment side is discussed on the Kenya overview.
Reports compare platform conversions with CRM outcomes each month, so you can see how many reported leads became real customers.
Some sectors face extra checks. Betting and gaming require Kenyan licensing and must meet Google's gambling policies, lenders and other financial services may need to show regulatory authorization, and health, pharmaceutical and alcohol advertising is restricted by both Kenyan rules and platform policy. Google also applies country-specific requirements to some financial products. I check current policies for your category before building and flag anything uncertain; your legal advisor confirms what Kenyan law requires.
Billing is worth settling early. Depending on your account, payment options, billing currency and invoicing arrangements vary, and card payments can fail if bank limits on online or foreign-currency transactions are not set correctly. I help you check what your account offers and set it up in the company's name, but your finance team and bank decide the payment method, and tax treatment of the invoices is a question for your accountant.
Pacing follows your sales rhythm. I set a monthly plan, watch spend against it, and move budget toward campaigns that bring qualified leads, with attention to holiday periods and any month-end buying patterns in your sector. I do not forecast cost per lead, because auctions and conversion rates change.
The account belongs to your company. I work through access you grant and can withdraw, each edit is visible in the account history, and no vendor or media owner pays me commission. For the wider acquisition plan, see the Kenya B2B lead generation page, or contact me for an audit.
Tell me about your business and current systems. I’ll suggest the most sensible first step.

Not sure which ERP you need?
Share your business requirements with me and I will help you understand the right process, architecture and platform before implementation.
Often both, depending on the buyer. Many Kenyans prefer chatting or calling, which can raise response, while a form captures details sales can qualify. I usually offer a WhatsApp link and phone number on a light page with a short form, then compare which route produces more paying customers in the CRM before deciding.
Only where your buyers search that way. Most B2B and professional searches in Kenya are in English, while some consumer and local service searches use Swahili or a mix. I check search volume for your terms, and if Swahili ads make sense, native speakers on your side or a partner write them.
By defining conversions carefully and filtering at several points: negative keywords, location settings, a short qualifying field on forms, minimum call durations and spam protection on forms. Most importantly, bidding is trained on leads sales has confirmed in the CRM, so the system learns to favor searches that produce real buyers.
Billing currency and payment options depend on what Google offers for your account at setup, and the currency generally cannot be changed later without a new account. I help you review the current options and set the account up in the company's name. Your finance team and accountant decide on payment method and tax treatment.
Every business is different. Share where you are today and what you want to fix, and I’ll tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
