How can an Odoo consultant help a Brisbane business?
An Odoo consultant helps a Brisbane business decide whether Odoo can run its workshop, stock, service work and accounts in one system, and how. Here that often means configured products such as camper trailers, serial-tracked component rebuilds with exchange cores, or air conditioning maintenance contracts. I work remotely and independently, designing the solution and guiding the implementer so the cutover does not stop production.

I work remotely as an independent Odoo consultant for Brisbane manufacturers, rebuild workshops and service contractors who want production, stock, field work and accounting in one system. The common thread is physical work: things built to order, components rebuilt and exchanged, and equipment serviced on a schedule.
Odoo can connect those activities well, but only if each flow is designed properly. I help you decide which apps to use, how to model your products and contracts, and how to choose and steer an implementer. Any time on site in Brisbane is planned by arrangement.
The apps are standard Odoo. The value is in modeling your products, components and contracts correctly before anyone starts configuring.
I map how products, jobs and parts move through your business and test whether Odoo's apps cover them, listing where configuration, an extra module or a separate tool is needed.
For camper trailer, caravan and accessory makers, I design how options drive bills of materials, work center steps and serial records, so every unit can be built, costed and supported.
I design serial tracking, core charges, returned core assessment and rebuild costing for component workshops, and agree the valuation approach with your accountant before build starts.
For air conditioning and refrigeration contractors, I scope site equipment registers, scheduled visits, breakdown response and contract billing across Field Service, Helpdesk and Subscriptions.
I prepare scenario scripts for demos, compare Odoo implementer proposals on substance, and help you choose the team whose plan fits your workshop rather than the lowest headline quote.
I plan which apps go live first, how work in progress, open cores, deposits and contracts migrate, and how the team keeps working while the switch happens.

Go live without stopping work
Brisbane's industrial suburbs, from Rocklea, Salisbury and Acacia Ridge in the south to Brendale and Narangba in the north and the estates around Wacol and Carole Park in the west, host many businesses that make, fit, repair and service things. A typical example builds a product partly to order, sells spare parts over the counter and online, and runs service work in the field or in its own workshop. Its systems grew one at a time: an accounting package, a quoting spreadsheet, a separate job tool, perhaps an online store.
Odoo appeals to firms like these because manufacturing, inventory, sales, field service, repairs, helpdesk, eCommerce and accounting share one database. A part used in a build, sold at the counter or fitted during a service visit draws from the same stock figure, and its cost lands in the same ledger. That is the core argument for Odoo here, and it is also where the risk lies: connecting everything means every process has to be designed, not just the one that hurts most today.
As an independent Odoo consultant, I start by mapping how a product or job moves through the business, then decide which Odoo apps are needed and in what order. I am not an Odoo partner and do not sell licenses; the build is done by an implementer, with me on your side. The Odoo platform page explains the suite.
South East Queensland has a number of businesses building camper trailers, caravans, canopies, trays and four-wheel-drive accessories for buyers planning trips up the coast, into the outback or around the country. Their products are configured: a base model with options for layout, suspension, water and power systems, storage and finish. Each order changes the bill of materials, the production steps and sometimes the lead time. Sales happen through a showroom, dealers in other states and online inquiries, and warranty and servicing continue long after delivery.
Odoo handles much of this with configurable products, where selected attributes and options drive the bill of materials, combined with manufacturing orders that follow work centers such as fabrication, welding, painting, electrical fit-out and final inspection. Serial or chassis numbers tie each unit to its components, which matters for warranty claims and recalls. Odoo Sales or eCommerce can capture deposits, and dealer orders can follow their own price list and terms.
The design questions are specific: which options to model as product variants and which as optional components, how to plan production when suppliers of chassis, axles or appliances run late, and where to store the compliance documentation a trailer or caravan may need before registration. Those compliance rules are for your engineers and certifiers to confirm; the system needs a place to hold the evidence. The Odoo Manufacturing page covers production features.
The mining, construction and agricultural equipment working across Queensland needs constant maintenance, and Brisbane has workshops that rebuild engines, transmissions, hydraulic cylinders, pumps and other major components. Many offer exchange units: the customer receives a rebuilt component straight away, returns the worn one, and that core is stripped, assessed and rebuilt for the next customer. The model is simple to describe and awkward to account for.
The system has to track each component by serial number through its life, hold a core charge on the customer's account until the old unit returns, record the assessment of the returned core and whether it can be rebuilt, value rebuilt stock sensibly, and cost each rebuild with parts, labor and outside machining. Odoo's Repairs app, serial tracking in Inventory, Manufacturing for the rebuild itself and accounting rules for core charges can be combined to do this. The design needs care: a core return is not the same as an ordinary customer return, and the valuation approach needs your accountant's agreement.
Field service adds another layer when technicians change out components on site. I map the full loop, including what happens when a core never comes back or arrives damaged beyond repair, and test it with real component histories before go-live. The Odoo Inventory page covers stock tracking in more detail.
In Brisbane's humid summers, air conditioning in offices, shops, schools, clinics and server rooms is essential rather than optional, and the contractors who install and maintain it run businesses built on recurring service. A commercial air conditioning and refrigeration contractor typically holds maintenance agreements with scheduled visits, responds to breakdown calls, quotes for replacements, and keeps records of equipment, refrigerant handling and service history at each site.
Odoo can support this with Field Service for scheduling and technician worksheets, Subscriptions or recurring orders for maintenance agreements, Helpdesk for breakdown calls with response targets, Inventory for van stock and parts, and Accounting for contract billing. Each customer site holds its own equipment register, so a technician sees the service history before arriving. A replacement quote can start from the technician's findings and flow straight to Sales.
The detail matters. Maintenance schedules may differ by equipment type, contracts may bundle some parts and exclude others, and after-hours call-outs carry their own charges. Refrigerant handling has licensing and record-keeping rules, which your industry body can confirm; the system should hold the records they require. Summer peaks also test scheduling, so I check that dispatchers can reprioritize quickly when breakdown calls pile up on the hottest days. The field service ERP page discusses the wider pattern.
A workshop or factory cannot stop while its system changes. Jobs are mid-build, components are out on exchange, technicians are on the road and customers expect invoices on time. The cutover plan matters as much as the configuration.
I help you decide the order in which apps go live based on where the pressure sits. A rebuild workshop might start with Inventory, Repairs and Accounting so serial-tracked stock and core charges are right from the first day, then add Field Service. A camper trailer maker might start with Sales and Manufacturing for new orders while existing builds finish under the old process. Work in progress at cutover needs a clear rule: finish in the old system, or migrate with costs to date. Open exchange cores, deposits held and live maintenance contracts each need their own migration plan, checked line by line with the people who know them.
I also help you choose and manage the implementer. Ask every Odoo implementer you consider, in Brisbane or elsewhere, to walk through your configured product, exchange or maintenance scenario in the demo rather than a generic flow. The Odoo in Australia page covers GST, payroll and hosting questions, and the Brisbane ERP consultant page covers wider local requirements.

Share your business requirements with me and I will help you understand the right process, architecture and platform before implementation.
Yes, with careful design. Options can drive the bill of materials and work steps through configurable products, but modeling every combination as a separate variant quickly becomes unmanageable. I help decide which choices become variants, which become optional components, and how serial or chassis numbers link each finished unit to its parts.
There is no single setting for it, so the flow is designed from standard pieces: a core charge on the sale, serial tracking for the returned core, an assessment step and rebuild costing. The accounting treatment of cores and rebuilt stock should be agreed with your accountant before the design is finalized.
It can be. Field Service, Helpdesk, Subscriptions and Inventory cover scheduled visits, breakdown calls, contract billing and van stock. The fit depends on how complex your contracts and site equipment records are. I test those against Odoo in a scripted demo before you commit, and suggest a specialist field service product if the gaps are significant.
Location matters less than fit. A nearby implementer makes workshop visits easier, while one elsewhere may know your type of business better. I help you compare proposals on scenario demos, team, scope and support, and if you choose a remote implementer I help structure testing and training so distance does not weaken the project.
Every business is different. Share where you are today and what you want to fix, and I’ll tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
