How does a Zoho Inventory consultant help a UK seller?
In Britain, a Zoho Inventory consultant sets up how stock is shared between marketplaces and your own web shop, how parcels go out with the couriers you already use, how goods crossing to the EU or Northern Ireland carry commodity codes and origin, and how batch and best-before dates are tracked. I work remotely and independently, and I flag early when a warehouse system or manufacturing ERP fits better.

British product businesses tend to sell everywhere at once: Amazon and eBay, a Shopify or WooCommerce site, wholesale accounts with independent shops, and perhaps a stall or trade show in the busy season. The stock usually lives in one unit on an industrial estate, and the trouble starts when two channels sell the same last item on the same afternoon.
Since Brexit, many of the same firms also ship to customers in Ireland and mainland Europe, and they discovered that a parcel to Dublin now needs data a parcel to Leeds never did. Zoho Inventory can carry most of that, provided the item master and channel rules are designed for it first.
I work remotely with UK owners, operations leads and finance managers during UK working hours, as an independent Zoho Inventory consultant with no reseller interest in any app or courier you choose.
I concentrate on the decisions that UK sellers usually get wrong in the first months: shared stock, parcel data, cross-border detail and returns.
Rules for how much stock each marketplace and your own site can see, which channel wins when stock is low, and how wholesale orders reserve stock without starving online sales.
Packing, label and tracking steps designed around the carriers you use, whether through a native shipping integration where available or a shipping platform your team already prefers.
Commodity codes, country of origin, weights and customs descriptions held on each item, so shipments to the EU and Northern Ireland are not held up by missing paperwork.
Batch numbers with best-before or use-by dates for food, drink, cosmetics and supplements, plus serials for electrical goods that come back under warranty.
A returns route that grades items as resaleable, refurbish or write-off, so marketplace refunds and stock levels stay in step instead of drifting apart.
Linking stock value and sales to Zoho Books, or designing the handoff to Xero if your accountant wants to stay there, with a clear owner for each document.

The commonest UK pattern I see is a small team selling through Amazon, eBay, a Shopify or WooCommerce site and Etsy for handmade or gift lines, with trade customers ordering by email. Zoho Inventory offers native integrations for a number of these platforms, and middleware or the API for others. The available list and its depth change, so I confirm what works today against your channels rather than relying on a feature page.
The configuration that prevents oversells is not complicated, but it has to be agreed:
For the order-to-cash picture beyond stock, my retail and ecommerce pages go further.
British parcel volumes go out through a mix of Royal Mail, DPD, Evri and other couriers, often chosen per parcel by size and service level. Zoho Inventory supports shipping integrations with some carriers depending on region, and many UK sellers already use a separate shipping platform to print labels. Both can work; what matters is that the package and shipment records in Zoho Inventory show what left, when, with which tracking number.
I design dispatch around three checks:
Returns deserve the same attention. Marketplace buyers return a noticeable share of some categories, and refunded items often sit in a corner unbooked. A returns location with grading steps keeps resaleable stock available and makes write-offs visible to finance at month end, which your accountant will notice if you use Zoho Books in the UK.
Selling from Great Britain into the EU now involves customs declarations, and goods moving to Northern Ireland follow their own arrangements. The detail of duties, VAT schemes for low-value consignments and Northern Ireland rules is for your customs agent and tax advisor, and it changes, so I keep the system flexible rather than hard-coding today's rules.
What Zoho Inventory needs to hold, so your broker or shipping platform can do its job:
Where you hold stock at a fulfillment partner inside the EU to avoid per-parcel customs, I set that up as its own location with transfer orders, so movements across the border are documented. The UK trading ERP page covers the wider import and export flow, including credit control.
Food and drink producers, cosmetics brands and supplement sellers in the UK need to show which batch reached which customer if a product is withdrawn, and retailers stocking them increasingly ask for it. Zoho Inventory can track batches with manufacture and expiry dates, and serial numbers for items such as small appliances. I switch these on only for the lines that need them, because each tracked item adds a step at goods-in and at packing.
Practical rules I set with warehouse teams:
On the cost side, most UK sellers import from Asia or Europe and pay freight, duty and agent fees on top of the supplier invoice. Import VAT is normally recoverable and should stay out of stock cost, while duty and freight usually belong in it. How far Zoho Inventory can allocate those charges automatically has varied over time, so I test it on a recent shipment and, where it falls short, set up an approved cost adjustment with a supporting workbook.
Some UK businesses ask Zoho Inventory to do jobs it was not built for. I say so early:
When those apply, I compare options without a sales agenda. See Zoho in the UK for the wider platform view, ERP consulting for UK companies for selection work, and the UK hub for how I work remotely.
Tell me about your business and current systems. I’ll suggest the most sensible first step.

Zoho Inventory offers native integrations with several marketplaces and online store platforms used in the UK, such as Amazon, eBay and Shopify, and others can be connected through middleware or the API. Availability and depth change, so I verify your exact channels before you commit and plan stock buffers per channel.
Shipping integrations depend on the carrier and your region, so I check what is currently available. Many UK sellers instead use a dedicated shipping platform for labels and keep Zoho Inventory as the stock and order record. Either way, I make sure tracking numbers flow back to the order and the channel.
Store commodity codes, country of origin, weights and plain customs descriptions on each item in Zoho Inventory so your shipping platform or customs agent can produce the paperwork. The rules themselves are for your agent and tax advisor; my job is making sure the item data is complete and consistent.
Generally, recoverable import VAT stays out of stock cost, while duty and freight are usually included, but your accountant should confirm the treatment for your business. I then test how Zoho Inventory and Zoho Books can apply that method and set up a controlled adjustment if the system cannot do it automatically.
Yes. I work remotely and run workshops, reviews and training during UK business hours, with configuration and documentation done between sessions. On-site visits to your unit or warehouse are possible only by arrangement.
Every business is different. Share where you are today and what you want to fix, and I’ll tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
